The Bible shows us that God is looking for a people He can love, who will love Him back. How can we know that Jesus rose from the dead?  

The Apostle Paul states that if Jesus were not raised from the dead, our faith would be useless (1 Corinthians 15:14). Thus, we know that believing Jesus was resurrected is such a fundamental aspect of our faith, but how can we know it to be true? In this Easter session, Michael d’Offay looks at three arguments that prove that Jesus died and was brought back to life. He looks at the claims of Jesus Himself, the life and death of the disciples, and the life of Paul. When we come to faith, our lives are transformed, and this is also proof that Jesus is alive. Let us be reminded why we celebrate Easter: Jesus came to seek and save the lost.

Called to encourage one another. 

Jesus said that those who endure in faith to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13). We are called to finish our race well, holding fast to Jesus throughout our lives. But how can we do so, with all of life’s trials and hardships? In this session, Michael d’Offay teaches us about encouragement – from learning how to become an encourager to God’s purpose in encouraging one another. What are the Biblical qualifications of a deacon?  

Deacons are appointed in the church to help the elders – they are hands-on problem solvers, faithful men and women ready to do what needs to be done. It is a biblical office for men and women specially set apart to serve. But what are the requirements for being appointed as a deacon? In this session, Andrew Selley looks at what the Bible says about leadership in the church and where these roles originate from. Understanding the outpouring of God’s Spirit.  

Acts 2:17-18 gives a wonderful description of what it looks like when the Holy Spirit breaks into a meeting, starting a powerful revival amongst the first Christians. But did you know it is possible to keep Jesus outside of our meetings, hindering the work of God? In this session, Andrew Selley unpacks what it looks like when God’s power moves among us by looking at Scriptures in both the Old and the New Testament and revivals throughout more recent church history. When we understand how God moves, we can embrace His power in our meetings, allowing Him to change us, heal us, set us free, and ultimately, see the lost saved.

We need to change for Jesus to remain in us.  

When we give our lives to Jesus, He meets us where we are and the way we are. However, belonging to Him will mean we must change to reflect Him and His Word truthfully. In this session, Andrew Selley encourages saints to allow God to continually work in their hearts and minds, which will transform us into the image of Christ. When Jesus brings us to truth about wrong beliefs, sin, or even our own preferences, He brings us to a crossroads. It might be hard for us to change, but God’s way is always better. Let us allow Jesus to challenge us because as we yield to Him, He will remain in us, and we will remain in Him.

How do we yield to the Holy Spirit and let Him overflow through us?  

We can easily talk about the power of God without seeing it manifest in our lives and churches. But God desires every saint to be filled to the overflow, living in the power of the Holy Spirit, for His glory alone. The power of the Holy Spirit is so much more than His gifts or miracles – we see Him in the fruit that we bear. His Spirit completes us. Is your devotion to Jesus honest and undefiled by the world?  

How we serve the Lord and His Body must be more than just a priority in our lives – we are called to be wholly devoted to Jesus and His Kingdom. This means that God deserves our first fruits, the best of all we have, including our time and our talents. In the Bible we see many examples of covenants – some between God and man and others, such as marriage, between people. We are familiar with the Old Covenant God made with Israel, but do we know God wants to be in covenant with us today? God’s chosen people are those in covenant with Him – with His laws placed in their minds and written on their hearts (Hebrews 8:10).
