Each person is given different gifts and abilities which make us all unique. Every blessing God gives is tailored to each individual! God loves us so much that He took time to make us differently! In today’s message, Pastor Ed helps us see that if we believe that fact, we do not need to envy another’s blessings. Being content with what God has blessed us with will allow us to not only find joy in our own unique talents, but also rejoice in the accomplishments of everyone we come in contact with!

Today’s message from Pastor Ed revolves around the sin of envy. Just as every other sin does, envy brings with it much destruction to us and to those around us. Envy takes joy from our lives, erasing happiness and contentment along with it. Jesus doesn’t want us to live like that! We have been blessed abundantly, and differently, than others around us! But, allowing jealousy of someone else to become what we focus on leaves very little room for focus on what we have been blessed with!

At times, it can be hard to follow a conversation or listen intently to a dry speaker. This doesn’t mean the person we are listening to doesn’t have a great message, however! Pastor Ed today asks us to remember that listening to messages about Jesus should never be taken for granted. The more we listen, the more we find there is much to learn about our Savior, who is truly one of the most interesting people to have walked the earth! Jesus life full of applications for our own, and we should crave that knowledge!

As we have learned in every message from Pastor Ed, Christians need to be different from the rest of the world! Today’s message is no different as Pastor Ed comes to the sixth of his series on the seven deadly sins. The world encourages slothful living, not truly committing and allowing anything and everything to influence us. As Christians, however, we need to stand apart from the world! It won’t be easy, but we have a great Teacher to learn from! With Jesus’s help, we can stand firm in our beliefs!

The world has many different influences bombarding us daily as we go about trying to serve God. These varied messages can lead us away from the path God has for us, and can fill our minds with compromising messages. Today, Pastor Ed asks us to be mindful of those moments when our values are being questioned, and to exercise self-control in those situations. If we hold tight to the truths of the Bible, and allow God to be the voice we listen to, it will be much easier to sift through the noise of the world!

Pastor Ed continues his series of messages on the seven deadly sins, and today comes to gluttony. This specific sin tends to be looked at mainly as a problem with food control and over indulgence, but Pastor Ed looks deeper today at the causes of gluttony. In times of pain, we sometimes turn to food to comfort us. Pastor Ed asks us today to find a different answer for those painful moments in life – looking to Jesus, to be specific. Jesus provides all we need, and we can turn to Him at every moment!

God created us with sexual desire, so it’s not bad to have those feelings. However, God’s word tells us to control those desires and that it’s meant for marriage between a man and woman. The world will tell us something completely different, like “do whatever feels good to you.” But Pastor Ed will warn us today not to be deceived. If you give into physical desires outside of God’s moral law it can destroy your life. Guard your heart in Christ Jesus and He will help you to live a holy life for Him.

We are all in a battle and we need God every single moment of our lives. No one is above sin, so always be on guard. The world will shout to go and follow your desires but God says to be holy for He is holy. In today’s message Pastor Ed will warn us about the sin of lust and how, if we give into it, it will destroy our lives. There are consequences for your actions! The world may tell you it’s okay, but the Bible warns against sexual sin and you need to take it seriously!

Anger only brings forth sinful actions. It takes our attention away from God and places it on our circumstance. Pastor Ed will teach us today not to expect justice in this world and not to take matters into our own hands, but to allow God to take care of it. Unchecked anger in your life will give satan a stronghold over you. Give your anger to God and He can handle it! He will show you how to control your anger if you ask Him. Be someone that strives to be a peacemaker instead of stirring up strife.

We’ve all experienced some form of anger. In today’s message Pastor Ed warns us that often times we are blinded by our anger and try to justify it. Not all anger is bad, but how we respond to it is what’s important. Out burst of anger are harmful to ourselves and everyone around us. So, how do you deal with anger when it rises up in your life? Do you allow it to dictate your actions? Or do you try to suppress it? Neither will bring good. You must surrender your anger to the Lord and allow Him to fight for you.
