In my last episode, we talked about building your admin team - the team that keeps you on track, sane, and ready to grow.

This week, we’re going to talk about the other half of the equation - your marketing team.

Now, you might be asking...do I really need a marketing team?

Well, that depends. If you want to grow your business without having to figure out all of the logistics behind messaging, graphics, social media, advertising, site design, and more...then yes, you need a marketing team. 

Your admin team prepares you to grow, while your marketing team actively works to bring you the brand awareness, engagement, and leads that will allow you to grow.

So, who makes up your marketing team, and what should you look for?

The details are flexible depending on what you need; different businesses at different stages have different needs. To start out, you should ask yourself - what do I love to do, what do I hate to do, and what am I able to do?

Your marketing team will consist of any (or all) of the following:

• Marketing manager or marketing assistant
• Social media manager
• Copywriter
• SEO specialist
• Graphic designer and/or web designer

Your marketing manager will develop the right strategy, stay on top of market and platform trends, and bring a mix of creativity and experience to your brand. 

Meanwhile, your social media manager will handle your posting strategy, content curation, engagement, platform analytics, and more. They’re your “voice” on social media (so you don’t have to stay glued to your phone).

Your copywriter will write your blog posts, podcast show notes, newsletters, sales pages, and more. They’ll learn your services and products, your unique voice, and what sets you apart - and then they’ll put that to paper and save you a ton of time.

If you want Google to be a strong source of traffic for you (and you don’t have time to learn all the crazy details of SEO), you’ll want an SEO specialist. This person stays on top of trends, algorithm changes, and best practices in order to position you for visibility and success.

Finally, if design isn’t your thing - or you need to focus on other things - your graphic designer and web designer have the creativity, skills, and experience to bring your brand to life in visual form and guide your customers to do business with you.
