Hey guys, how's the podcast going today? Uh-huh, uh-huh, cool cool cool.
So, I've got a question for you. A couple of years ago at a convention I got to see Daniel Cudmore, who played Colossus in the X-Men movies. When asked which character he'd most like to interact with if he got to be in an MCU movie, his answer was, "The Hulk. 'cos I want to fight him." He then talked about the fight just going on in the background of the entire movie, Peter Griffin vs Giant Chicken-style, while the other characters were in the foreground, concentrating on dealing with the movie's actual plot. An inspired answer!
So, to my question: which character would you most like to see added to the MCU, and who would you be most excited about them interacting with? "I just want Tom Holland's Spider-Man back," is not a valid answer to this question, because we all want that.

Back in the Archie Sonic days and on the BumbleKing Comics Forum, a user asked if you had given a name to the Dark Presence sleeper agent that acted as a maid for Knuckles's family. When another member said that they liked to refer to her as Misty-Re, you deemed it as "too punny to pass up" and after that, immediately declared it to be "OFFICIAL FANON MADE CANON!" What is the line you draw between not accepting anything from fans and accepting a fan idea as canon, and does this mean you are open to "punny" name suggestions for background characters?

Ian, I remember reading somewhere that you wanted to or at least had the idea of doing a "What If" comic featuring Roll on "What if Roll volunteered to fight the robot masters instead of Rock?" And I'm curious to know if you ever wanted to do any What If comics involving Sonic characters. If so, what kind of "What If" comics would you want to do involving Sonic characters?

are the classic Sonic era games canon to the IDW continuity? And will those be explored later down the line?

Hey there fellas, how are you going?
Who do you think is the most annoying character in video games? Omochao from the various Sonic games? Navi from the Legend of Zelda series? Almost any survivor that you have to rescue from the Dead Rising games? (Special mention goes to that one injured survivor in Dead Rising 2 who refuses to let you carry him. So you have to find a wheelchair and then try to push him through the hordes of hungry zombies, usually tipping him over at the slightest bump. Alternatively you can let him walk, and have to wait ten minutes for him to limp his way from one end of a casino to the other. Either way, screw that guy. :P)

    Andrew D.
I’ve heard the term “The Metal Virus Saga” thrown around for season 2. Is it the official name, and is there an official name for season 1? Also, would you consider the stuff that happens between seasons in the annuals as part of Season 1 or Season 2?

    STANDARD Q&A

how did Relic and Knuckles first meet in the new Sonic universe? Did someone accompany her and introduce her to Knuckles, or did she decide to travel to Angel Island unaware that someone lived on Angle Island? Given how Knuckles have bad experience with strangers showing up on his island unannounced, I could see his and Relic first meeting not going well with Knuckles even believing that she have come to steal the Master Emerald like Eggman and Rouge have.

How come Sega said that Sonic's Planet ain't called Mobius Anymore? And that non of the like Sonic & Eggman/Robotnik can't have Family Members anymore.

-Despite the comic taking place in the Two World canon, you also said that Shadow's backstory is the same, so does that mean that Sonic's world is aware of humans or are aliens to them?

Yo, you don't have to think too much about this one, but the design of those infected by the metallic menace that is the Metal Virus looks a tad like the Prelates from the old comic run. Was this a reference of ideas of old, or was it a total coincidence that the heroes were dealing with shiny zombie dudes?

    ScruffyMatt
Today I'm curious about your feelings towards sidequests - do you prefer to prioritise them over the main game objective, or put them off until later, possibly even ignoring them entirely? Also, what are some of your favourite and least favourite sidequests in games? I often get annoyed by some of the Riddler missions in the Arkham games, but it's oh so satisfying when I finally outwit him and lock him up.

    Andrew D.
There is now an alternate zone (whether before the reboot or after) where everyone is gender swapped. You can incorporate characters and elements from either before or after the reboot into this reality (they can coexist, as this is an alternate reality. For example, genderswapped Julie-Su and genderswapped Relic can hang out together on Angel Island with genderswapped Knuckles.). Any ideas of what you would introduce? What would the characters be like? What names might they have, and would there be any personality changes among any of the cast? Would genderswapped Amy be seen as even more of a creep for stalking genderswapped Sonic? Have fun!

I feel conflicted when reviewing the idea of Antoine being killed. On one hand, my inner-child who is inevitably connected to the series (as it is a cartoon) wants everything to turn out great for these characters; and it’s not unrealistic to say the injury did serve the desired purpose and sometimes people in dire situations DO get better; on the other hand, there’s also a reality to the idea that sometimes, people we know and love are ripped from their lives and our own, and this reality has to be accepted. I know you made the choice to have him live, but, with time having passed, which of these two equally viable options do you feel would have worked better?

Hey fellas, I've got a potentially rage-inducing question for you this week.
What is that one game you have been nearly driven to madness by, because you can never achieve higher than a 99% completion rate, or are missing just one single achievement from it? Banjo-Tooie has been haunting me in this way since 2000. I've never been able to get 100% completion on the Cloud Cuckooland level, because that final race with Canary Mary is just plain impossible. Curse you, Canary Mary!

Any thoughts on the naming conventions of the various Sonic robots? In the games, or at least the Japanese games, everything not Metal Sonic was named Mecha Sonic. Then the American games named the Sonic robots from both 8-bit and 16-bit Sonic 2 games Silver Sonic. Then LEGO Dimensions dubbed the Silver Sonic from 16-bit Sonic 2 as Robo Sonic. Since then, I liked to distinguish them as 8-bit Sonic 2 being Silver Sonic, 16-bit Sonic 2 being Robo Sonic, and Sonic 3 & Knuckles being Mecha Sonic. My headcanon was satisfied with that, but then the team behind the mobile app SEGA Heroes had a poll to vote on what characters people wanted to see in the game the most, and they referred to each of the three as Mecha Sonic. So, what are your thoughts on the names? Have you gotten any feedback from SEGA on the matter? If they were ever to appear in the comics, can you state which names you’d prefer to use? PS- And what about Rocket Metal?

Was Sonic and Sally reuniting a personal choice for you, one felt obliged to do, or one asked for by the business? Regardless, thank you for doing it. Did you like them together when you first arrived at the comic, did you change your mind slowly, what was your thought process to this?

Sometimes the best part of a video game can be its unlockable rewards, which might give you new playable characters or costumes, or change the gameplay in some subtle or dramatic way. Some of these have pretty much become tradition for their games, such as super forms in the Sonic series and the red bricks in the Lego series. And then you have games like Goldeneye 007, where if you have played well enough, you can play any level with invincibility, unlimited ammo, and dual-wield every single weapon in the game!
What are some of your favourite unlockables in games? Aside from the ones I've already covered, one that comes to my mind is dragon Kazooie from Banjo-Tooie. Not only does it look cool, but it also gave Kazooie an awesome new fire-breathing attack. (Also, bonus points to Edna Mode mode from Lego The Incredibles, because that was hilarious!)

my question is, will we be seeing more of Cream in the Metal Virus arc in some way and in the future of the comic besides seeing her map drawing updated every issue, which is really adorable by the way :) I ask this as in recent years, Cream has been reduced to a minor character in the games to the point of only showing up in mobile games where plots aren’t needed. Will Cream be handled as such in the IDW series as SEGA are more involved with this comic compared to the Archie series, or will we perhaps see more of her in the future having a bigger role like the rest of Sonic’s friends? Considering the size of Sonic’s cast, I know it’s hard to get in everyone and I always appreciate what we can get.

If the cosmos aligned and the Sonic the Hedgehog omniverse collapsed into a single multiverse or universe (meaning all the various Sonic series are now one new series), what things such as characters, lore, locations, etc would you like to see included? What would you like to see excluded? For example, would Sonic’s mother be Queen Aleena or Bernadette?       PATREON PRIORITY Q&A ScruffyMatt Seeing as Tails mentioned his adventures on Cocoa Island during the recent Twitter Takeover, now seemed an ideal time to ask a question I've been wondering about for awhile. Do you know if Tails Adventure for the Game Gear is considered canon to the games? If so, which version? Apparently the Japanese manual for the game implies it's a prequel that took place before Sonic and Tails met, that Tails actually lived on the island, and that the Chaos Emeralds had been said to have been hidden there since ancient times. The Western manual however said that it took place in the present day (well, 1995), and that Tails was just taking a vacation by himself. That seems to be the version that you were adapting in the comics, but would that version be canon to the games timeline too? Also, did you ever plan to include T-Pup turning into a submarine in the comics, like he can in the game? Because when I played the game for the first time after reading The Tails Adventure in Sonic Universe, I was rather surprised when that happened.
Andrew D. On Twitter you mentioned that Sonic Spinball was not canon. Was that officially stated by SEGA, or is that an assumption? What other Sonic games are not canon? While I understand we can’t speak for him, Aaron Webber has been known for saying “Everything is canon”, so now I’m curious.
Arryn If you didn’t go into comics, what would you have done?
STANDARD Q&A BlueStreak Do you think it will ever be possible to see merchandise based on the IDW Sonic books? i'd love to see figures, T-shirts, and plushes made for it.
Anonymous I understand you take part in creating show called Sonic Underground. I saw this show a couple of times as a kid. But the fact that it was cancelled and left unresolved leaves me completely heartbroken and it drives me crazy not knowing how it could end. I’m not asking you to restart the series but just to finish off from the first series. Thank you.
Rippl3r Why didn't you cancel Sonic Underground sooner?
James M. Hey Kyle, do you wish a second Spaceballs happened?
