PATREON PRIORITY Q&A

In S.U. #88, it's stated that a "catastrophic event blasted Pancardina into a series of islands, with the Trolls (Walter Naugus' race)  being all but wiped out overnight", What was this event, or what caused it?

IanWaffles

What do you think was the appeal of the Sonic and Sally relationship? Also, correct me if I’m wrong, but it seemed like you changed their romance from an “opposites attract” dynamic to one where the two cared for each other so much that they could set aside their contrasting personalities and stop bickering. Was this intentional or am I missing the mark?

Koopaling Krew

Without context or any continuity, what would happen if Marine and Sticks got stuck alone on an island, meeting for the first time?

Rael

What are your personal thoughts on Eggman's backstory? What do you imagine his family life was like? Was he always evil, or did something cause him to turn? What was he up to before meeting Sonic?

Andrew D.

In the latest issue, when Dr. Starline mentions the Warp Topaz altering reality, were the mushrooms and feathers in the flashback panel appearing as a result of reality altering, or were they already there? 2- Dr. Starline mentions that Eggman uses the Cacophonous Conch to control the Zeti, but in the games it was called the Cacophonic Conch. Are they two different names for the same item, was it purposely renamed, is it a different item, or what?

About this time last year, we saw the preview for Smash Bros. Ultimate's World of Light, and spent days sobbing into our pillows as we helplessly watched Sonic valiantly trying to save Pikachu only for both of them to be vaporised. A lot of fan art and memes came out of this brief moment,

The solicit for issue 25 was recently revealed, and it seems like it still deals with the Metal Virus. I was under the assumption that every 12 issues is a separate season. Is 25 still part of season 2, or is the Metal Virus Saga taking up some of season 3 as well?

Koopaling Krew

perhaps you can discuss your thoughts on tv or book series that were canceled or put on hiatus but saw the light of day again thanks in part to fans?

What kind of wolf would you say Whisper is? (Red, Gray, Eastern, etc.)

-So people have been making fan art between the two series for as long as I could remember and since now are both being published by the same company, I'm curious as to how you would approach making an officaly My little Pony Friendship is Magic and Sonic the Hedgehog crossover. Would the cast MLP be in Sonic world or vice versa? What specific character interactions between the two series would you want to write?

Matthew P.

In the IDW Sonic comic's, It's been established that Sonic and his friends live on one world, while the humans live on another. If that's the case, how did Sonic Adventure, Sonic Adventure 2, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Unleashed play out? Did G.U.N., Professor Pickle, and Gerald Robotnik or any humans for that matter exist in Sonic's World or were the humans extinct when the game's occurred in the comic?

Liam B.

-What, if anything, is the one rule you cannot break if you want to make a good piece of art or entertainment? It seems history’s great works are a list of pieces that broke the rules, but is there one that is absolutely unbreakable?

Is Sally Acorn gay or bi? She liked Sonic before the reboot, but it was implied she went for Nicole after the reboot. Did the wave change her?

PATREON PRIORITY Q&A

Andrew D.

Are there limitations to original characters and magical items that you can create? For example, are you allowed to make your own robotic Sonic, your own primordial being like Dark Gaia, or your own set of gems? As for the Warp Topaz, were there restrictions on what you could and couldn’t do with it?

EggmanInc

Did Ian ever have any plans involving the content from Sonic Colors? Was it ever brainstormed?

Ian Waffles

Ian, how do you keep yourself personally invested in the Sonic the Hedgehog series when it’s been your job for the past decade? I often take breaks from being into the Sonic series, or any series I like, and come back periodically. You haven’t had that luxury so I wondered how you could keep that balance of being a fan of the series, and working for the series. Thank you for your time.

BlueTidalGamer

My question for this episode involves the recent issue of IDW Sonic, Issue 22. A real soul-crusher of an issue, I loved it! So when the Monkey civilian revealed that he was infected and thus started the chaos, I wonder how he got in if Gemerl is the one scanning people for signs of infection? Is this something that might get addressed in the future, or shall it remain a mystery?

STANDARD Q&A

Bcrossfire

If the Mega Man comic had gotten all the way to the MM6 arc, do you think you would have expanded on the 1st Annual Robot Tournament? Like by adding a ton of new Robot Masters? Maybe covered the tournament battles proper in a miniseries?

Okami O.

Hiya, Ian! I had a question regarding my two favorite IDW original characters from the Sonic comics, Rough and Tumble. Do you think you may ever get around to exploring their backstory in the future? Answering questions like how Tumble's tail got detached, why did they become evil mercenaries by the time Forces occurred, and who exactly is the oldest of the two? And a possible miniseries starring them like with Tangle and Whisper? Thanks a bunch for your time!

Comic Books seem to be more susceptible to the demands and necessities of business more than any other artistic medium; why do you think that is?

Kyle, which is your favourite videogame franchise and platform, and why?
