The Bums make a triumphant return to the most southernly rail yard with S5:E0139, as the top knot snaps off with Chicago Bears report (us bitching and moaning even though they are atop the NFC North); Green Bay is purportedly already done with head coach Matt “LaFlower” LaFleur (lol); Saquon Barkley in rare air, but still down the list for RB single game yards; a bone is picked with LSU (it goes how you’d expect); Hall of Fame season recounts NHL and MLB awards and noms; while pitching prop bets had a short run; and the first half closes with a somber ending to an Oakland legend’s run (he of “Last Chance U” fame — boo).
On a brighter note, we’re going to drink our sorrows away with another double booze review with “Grid” (ABV 4.75%, yes down to two decimal places) an American Pale Ale from local brewery, Hop Butcher, that tastes great and reeks of Citra & Mosaic hops — followed up by a super rare and special (you can only get it in one place) “Sean Irish Whisky”, a single malt whiskey that is slicker than seal shit on a glacier, another Paddy donation, yum AF; Rocky provides a Sicilian travelogue walkthrough; Russian tech never disappoints; another Chow Report features a classic Chicago tapas place; Rocky rejoices, as loose change starts it’s journey to extinction. All of this without the burden of quality or content. Get more while you still can.

The Bums are back in the rail yard with another masterpiece (nobody is going to challenge us) with Episode S5:E0138 — and all of this following a nearly 1-month break; the Chicago Bears are keeping pace in the NFC North, and are still Trade Deadline buyers; mental health awareness check-in, as we lose former Dallas Cowboy, Marshawn Kneeland to suicide (ugh); Junior Varsity (college) football is recounted , including a chat around former Wildcats HC, Patty Fitz (we should start a pool to see where he lands); Rocky witnesses a piece of Connor Bedard history at the UC, which means that Chicago Blackhawks hockey is kinda back; talk turns to euro-stepping and the Chicago Bulls respectable start — including a 24-point comeback; and close with a stories of gambling involving NBA players and unnamed mafiosos.
The flip side kicks off with a double booze review, starting with “Cannonball Kolsch” tangerine touched kolsch (ABV 4.8%) from BuckleDown Brewing in Lyons, IL (get your passport), and ending with a special treat — courtesy of Paddy — “Ten Year Old Distillery Edition” single pot still Irish Whiskey from Redbreast (only gettable on the green rock), reeking of butterscotch that will knock your socks off; a fan request (Hop and Rude Dude) of the shittiest old school beers - the Bums rise up and deliver; Irish Paddy is in potato heaven during his visit to the mother land — another travelogue installment ensues; a rare, midday movie surprise experience is recounted; the Bums Halloween costumes on point, and close with a warm welcome to Bums Nation. Pro tip: Nuzzle up with the Bums this winter, it’s about to get cold AF. Feel the heat.

The flop kicks off with another interstellar beer review at the hands of a growing favorite form Horse Thief Hollow Brewing with “Spoonful” (ABV 6.5%), not overly tart or overly sweet; not overly sweet (high marks); Rocky gets inked up (finally); RIP and bon voyage to preeminent primatologist, Dr. Jane Goodall aged 91 (the primate whisperer); Eddie reviews the Chad Powers series — and it goes as you’d expect; another Chow Report installment with Mama Delia, Queen Mary’s, and Ludlow Liquors; Rocky heads to Kansas City and eats well at Jack Stack BBQ and Belmont Grill; and close with a Super Bowl Bad Bunny Boycott (who fucking gives a shit, take turns, I don’t know what else to say). The bums are back in the rail yard with S5:E0136, where first half talk immediately shines blue-and-orange for Bears chatter; Caleb nabs Offensive PoTW honors with 4 TDs and a solid overall performance; week 3 was chock full of barn burners — 4 games came down to the last play, 6 were close AF; Paddy rips through an NFL IDNKT installment (despite Rocky’s protest on the source); Eddie runs the gauntlet on NFL HOF candidates along with the Bums expert opinions; JV updates ensue (College Football / Civil War plays out at Chez Eddie); MLB playoffs are primed and ready; Paddy visits the Friendly Confines, and the Jumbotron prediction didn’t disappoint; underrated MLB legend Bob Gibson was bigger than the game (STL Cardinal or otherwise); and wrap the top with a shortlist of punchable sports personalities drawing ire among Bums Nation.
The second half cracks off with yet another interstellar Beer review at the hands of Chicago’s own Horse Leaf Hollow Brewing Company and their “Little Wing” (5.25% ABV) Pilsner — a hybrid pilsner that combines crispiness and creaminess (Beverly neighborhood’s pride); Rocky has a stone in his shoe (SIMS episode) — who do you have to blow to get a high-quality tattoo?; Paddy discovers an incomparable brunch treat — Irish style; Paddy delivers a new travelogue, Colorado edition doesn’t disappoint; Eddie and Rocky experience Riot Fest including a potential mayoral run for Rocky; the old adage Details Matter takes on a new twist; and close with a new game created by Eddie — September 25th review by the numbers. It’s going to get cold soon — catch the heat before it’s too late.

The Bums are back in the rail yard with S5:E0135 — and the top begins with the Bums giving thanks and praise for the return of regular season NFL football; a spitting contest ensues with Jalen Carter’s ejection, leaving the Eagle’s D short-handed vs. Dem Boys; the Bums face a strange quandary, watching JF1 in Jets garb and serial douchebag A-A-Ron “Horseface” Rodgers donning Pittsburgh black and gold — a dilemma ensues; take turns to Junior Varsity football (aka College Football), as the Longhorns get their nuts snipped by the Ohio cannabis leaves, the Golden Dumbers fall short, and SMU is nailed to the cross in the Jesus Bowl; talk turns to late season MLB — as the Cubbies induct Sammy Sosa and Derek Lee into their team HoF (Eddie doesn’t care); the MLB playoff and wildcard race starts to take shape despite in the shadow of the Dodger’s vs. Orioles near-no-hit; Angel Angst runs rampant amongst WNBA players and fans (along with neon colored dildos); and close with foul ball etiquette not being followed, and the memes aren’t disappointing.
The bottom half cracks off with another infamous beer review with a French Canadian brew from Quebec’s micro brasserie Dieu Du Ciel and their “Fenetre Sur Les Tropique” (ABV 5.0%), a hazy blonde pale ale that is rich in Citra, Mosaic and Motueka hops — an easy drinker that isn’t too sweet (everyone rejoices); Paddy and Rocky visit the Salt Shed on a school night to see the Red Clay Strays, following a delicious pregame dinner at Ada; meanwhile, Eddie and Company enjoy a set delivered by the Henry True Band at the G Man, with a few familiar faces; Genny Tacos “tries” to order a drink at G Man (and Eddie isn’t having it); the praise for Blue Ash Farm bourbon continues; another Eddie chow report features Chicago’s Bodega Sur; binge streaming updates with Dept Q, Smoke and Stick, and close with a Rocky-flavored grill review — highlighting Spider Grill’s Huntsman—a hybrid kettle/kamado masterpiece. The Bums are on the cusp of hitting 5,000 downloads, and we’re just as surprised as you are.

The Bums are back in the rail yard with S5:E0134, starting with a big ol’ dose of NFL chatter; Bears extend a QB for the first time in ages; Caleb looking good on paper; Bears injuries in the secondary are more than a little concerning; massive target Colston Loveland is poised to rack up some numbers; the MLB regular season is evaporating; Cubs are stalling while Seattle is smoking; and close with more meaningless consequences being applied by the nearly defunct NCAA (eyes roll everywhere).
The back half cracks off with another infamous beer review, featuring a gold-standard IPA created by Tree House Brewing — “Juicy Machine” (ABV 7.1%), and it does NOT disappoint (even a little); Eddie takes a field trip to Suncatcher Brewing in Chicago; Rocky gets bumped by a cello; the end of summer is upon us with Air and Water Show hijinks; Eddie snags a miracle with NIN; white conservatives are losing their shit over changes introduced by the Cracker Barrel restaurant chain; and close with a Paddy travelogue of his visit to the Mitten. All of this, and definitely not anything more. Get it while it’s fresh.

The Bums are back in the rail yard, with a special guest — Lefty (our first female guest to join the show); S5:E0132 pops off with Paddy’s ceremonial sports questionnaire (as Lefty runs “the Gauntlet”); nobody is impressed with the All Star Game but it’s discussed in the spirit of completeness — Frankenstein wins MVP honors in a unique way; the Home Run Derby crown goes to a catcher for the first time, as the Big Dumper drops a big one; the Chicago Bears rookie holdouts are nearing completion; the top knot closes with a Paddy POV on “The Open” (formerly known as the British Open).
The ponytail cracks off with a special booze review, featuring a “box set” of creations from Blue Ash Farms, located in the Driftless region of Wisconsin — and courtesy of Lefty; we had the chance to sample three different bourbon derivatives — Blue Ash Farms Bourbon, Maple Bourbon and Honey Bourbon (90 proof); interesting backstory on the distillery and owner (Bill O’Donnell, bother of actor Chris O’Donnell); all three spirits were on point, something for everyone who enjoys bourbon — high marks; Rocky goes Double Tripping (rough start to his Monday); an 18 year-old soccer phenom has a birthday party with interesting “little” guests/party favors; the ColdPlay kiss cam strikes again; Coca-Cola’s Mexican Coke is becoming Americanized (rolls eyes); and closes with Lefty’s review of a Netflix’ “Quarterback” reality series. Get some Bums, and some much needed grace -- straight from the left hand of our special guest!

The Bums are back in the rail yard with S5:E0131 (sans technical difficulties) where the top honors a fallen bum, Boston Dough, who passed away unexpectedly; the Bums recount various tech blunders with E0130 before jumping into sporting news; the Chicago Bears extend stoic GM Ryan Poles (co-term with new coaching regimen); good guy Jonathan Toews heads home for his moose-song; talk turns to MLB and the upcoming All Star break, including the debut of bot umps; Cubs phenom PCA (super dreamy) sparkles during 1H —in rare air; Paddy spits some MLB trivia including a focus on Craig Biggio; Paddy and daughter catch a rap concert at Comiskey (the warm up act was some mediocre baseball); the Bums offer respect to Dave Parker, Bobby Jenks, Lee Elia — along with actor Michael Madsen; Angel Reese is on everyone’s last nerve; and close with the Dodgers vilification.
The bottom chunk rips off with another universally famous beer review — mitten style — with another solid creation from Seedz Brewery in Union Pier, MI, “Hoppers Hell” (ABV 5.0%), a very good Helles Lager with balanced hops up front and a nice malt back end (slight citrus pronounced with several Seedz creations); another Chow Report featuring Rose Mary in Chicago’s Fulton Market hood; Paddy does some micro-landscaping; the Bums take-on southwest Michigan over the 4th of July holiday; a visit to the Bloomery was equal parts overwhelming and heaven; and close with a shout out to Netflix and their well done Led Zeppelin documentary. Get some while it’s hot!

The Bums are kind of in the rail yard, with Episode 130 — boasting a bevy of technical blunders (nobody is happy); however, we shall persevere with a butchered up episode that is barely better than bupkis; the first half is cut way too short.
The second half kicks off with another worldly review of booze, featuring a creation from Pipeworks Brewing Co., “Pineapple Guppy” (4.8% ABV) — a thin, but tasteless pale ale that was a let down; mercifully, Eddie brought in the reserves with LALO blanco tequila (80 proof) that is clean, approachable and sippable—from a third-generation Mexican tequila maker, purely crafted with no aging process and only three ingredients (high marks); Paddy and Rocky take it to the streets for a Ferris Bueller’s Day off adventure on wheels; Paddy fingers a dime; the Bums bid adieu to musical artists Sly Stone and Brian Wilson, as well as the most influential inventor you’ve never heard of (RIP Bill Atkinson); Rocky runs the gauntlet, boozing and eating his way through Milwaukee over 12 hours and five stops; the Bums enjoy a Smoquey Father’s Day dinner; and close with a review of a new Netflix docuseries, entitled “Trainwreck” (aptly named given this episode’s tech issues). They can’t all be gems.

The Bums return to the rail yard with S5:Episode 0129 — where NBA/NHL Finals blanked early discussion; OKC seems to be favored in either 5 or 6 games, while Edmonton attempts to topple the Florida Panthers on the frozen water pitch; shockingly and stupidly— Thibs gets the heave ho (run out of NY on a rail for reaching the post-season); the Chicago Fire steals home from the White Sox with their new stadium plan — funded privately by a billionaire who gets it; meanwhile, the Chicago Bears owners are playing footsie with public figures in hopes of squeezing blood from a turnip; in MLB news, the Marlins and Rockies vie for the shittiest start to their season since, well… the Chicago White Sox; meanwhile the Cubbies are flying high while Jerry Reinsdorf announced his plan to sell the under achieving White Sox by 2029 (mercifully); a few sound-bytes from the Bears mandatory mini-camp and close as the beleaguered CHSN sports channel plans it’s launch with Comcast cable (good fucking luck w/ that).
On the flop, another majestic beer review is executed flawlessly with Begyle Brewing’s “Begyle Blonde” (ABV 5.2%), and American Blonde ale brewed with a touch of honey — resulting in a clobber able creation that is ready for summer action; Paddy reviews the upper chunk of a very questionable list of the Top Breweries in Illinois; the Mayor of Clown Town continues his circus show; Eddie reviews a Southside classic with another Chow Report installment; Paddy reviews must-see TV with Netflix’ Air Force Elite: Thunderbirds, as well as the real-life Zero Dark Thirty story (Search for OBL); conversely, low-marks were scored on Brett “Slimy Hillbilly” Favre’s documentary that chronicles his epic fall from fame; Paddy rants on a few items (not all of the Bums concur, but everyone is entitled to their opinion) before closing with weather report complaints. Get a taste before tariffs affect quality and/or availability.
