Today I talk about how to expand your mindset. Growing up as a highly sensitive person, most of us weren’t taught how to effectively work with a nervous system that overstimulates so quickly and easily. As a result, we often default to what I call “either/or thinking”.
“Either it’s perfect OR it’s a disaster.”
“Either I do only what I want right now or I’m stuck doing what I don’t want forever.”
“Either everything is easy and successful, not challenging, or I’m sad, stuck, stressed, angry, a failure, not having fun, and don’t know my purpose.”
Either/Or thinking is a learned behavior as a result of missed attempts to manage anxiety. And a very common experience for those of us who are highly sensitive.
This means – Good News Alert! – it can also be unlearned.
