Why do churches differ so much? There is a great variety of churches – not just in terms of their size or language or demographics, but in their theology, forms of worship, mission and vision and in their experience. How are we to think about this spectrum of churches? Is it all just about personal taste? Adapting the form of worship that appeals to you.  Not right nor wrong? Just a matter of preference? Or are the differences more significant? Do styles of worship represent competing theologies which are more or less faithful to the Scriptures?

In Ephesians 3, we see Paul - the minister of the Gospel, unveiling God’s mystery to us. We often think of God’s plan as something hidden and abstract, but Paul tells us that God has revealed this mystery through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. God’s plan is for us Gentiles to be made fellow heirs, members of His body, and recipients of His promise through the Gospel of our Lord and Saviour - Jesus Christ. And as His church, we now display the manifold wisdom of God, His glory and His grace. Having received such revelation, let us not lose heart and live out God’s plan - to reveal His glorious wisdom and wonderful grace by living out the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
