The atonement stands at the very centre of Christianity. Central to the gospel is the belief that Jesus died on the cross to pay the penalty for sin, offering salvation to all who trust in him. But what did Jesus' death actually accomplish? More specifically, for whom did he die? Was His atoning sacrifice made for the whole world, or was it for God’s chosen people? And why does this matter to us today? In this third message of our series on Reformation theology, we’ll explore the 'L' in TULIP: Limited Atonement. As people share their testimonies, one of the most common elements that people mention is the godly lives of the Christians around them. Our lives and words as Christians, ought to be a powerful testimony to those around us, making the gospel beautiful and drawing some people to him. The grace-filled church will continually proclaim the gospel of grace, bearing witness to the gospel in word and dead in the world. Mot only will the gospel of grace send us out into the world to share our faith, but our grace-filled lives will make the gospel attractive to the watching world.

Forget grace, and ministry will often become a duty. Forget grace, and ministry will quickly become me-focussed. Forget grace, and perhaps there will be a reluctance to serve others at all. However, the grace-filled church will embrace an attitude of humble, sacrificial service towards others in response to God’s grace and expect nothing in return for their service.

Can we show too much grace? Christians are often wary when it comes to grace. Of course, we know that God has shown us grace. And that should mean a willingness to love and serve one another. But sometimes, we find it hard to be gracious. Sometimes, the gospel of grace is in our heads, but it hasn’t penetrated our hearts. In this talk, we'll see that the gospel of grace ought to produce a grace-filled community. If we’ve truly grasped the gospel, we will live in grace towards one another.

The gospel of grace does not fit with what many human beings believe. Many people think that human beings are basically good and we can merit our own salvation through our efforts. But what we must grasp is that grace alone can save and transform. We must never let our gaze shift from the gospel of grace.
