  • Ep 47. As Unique As Your Fingerprint…
    To My By [Name] Beauties,
Did you know that you are a tailor-made, one-of-a-kind masterpiece? No, we are not wasting any time today. We are diving right into our meat & potatoes, aka, our show topic, this week which centers around your distinct abilities, authenticity, and utter singularity.
In other-words, you are as unique as your fingerprint.
And I think that sometimes we get so used to formulas, footprints, and stereotypes that we are almost blinded from following our unique, God-ordained path. In today’s show I discuss three different points to remind you of the unique God-given beauty that you posses.

    * There is physical evidence that points to your authenticity as a human being. If you don’t believe me, simply look at your finger. On lies your unique identifier on this Earth. You see NO other human being has a fingerprint exactly the same as yours. It’s what makes you, YOU.
    * STOP. WITH. THE. COMPARISON!!!  We go more in depth about this during the show but if you often find yourself measuring yardsticks against the successes (or even pitfalls) of others, stop and ask yourself, WHY? Why do I compare myself to others? What do I see inside of them that triggers something within me? Bonus Point: You might to seek therapy/counseling to get to the root of this.
    * Run your OWN unique race (because it is in fact unique). You are not only a unique individual but you were created for a special purpose and assignment within your own sphere of influence. I love the way that the KJV of Jeremiah 1:4-5 puts it…

“Then the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.”
You see, before you were ever thought about or set foot on this Earth, God knew who you were, called you holy, and prepared you for a specific purpose. So believe that. Walk in that. Embrace that.
Because there are only great things that can come when you walk in exactly who you were called to be.
    Love Y’all & Until Next Time…

  • Ep 46: HOLD UP! First, We Gotta Talk Obedience…

It’s time for another episode of By Name Beauty and you know how we do it! In this episode we stayed true to merging, beauty, culture and the word of God to talk about obedience.

& let me tell you, this episode was a DRAG for me, personally. God has really been dealing with me about obedience and teaching me about it in real-time during this season. During today’s show, I share why obedience is so important and ultimately some of the revelations God gave me around this topic.

  • Ep 45: WAIT! Before You Give Up…

It’s completely crazy how God gives us what we need when we need it. I personally needed to hear Episode 45 today and I hope that it blesses you just as much as it did me.

The theme of today’s show centers around staying the course even when in the midst of extreme difficulty and is directly connected to last week’s episode, How To Attack Perfectionism.

You see friend, this season of my life has been beyond difficult. So difficult that I am going to spare you of many details or else we would be here all day! LOL But just know that I have been enduring a major life transition, being pruned and developed in my character, and everything I say I believe has been tested to it’s core. Yep, it’s been one of those kinds of seasons. But no need to worry. Here at By Name we are a community and we help one another get back on track when we’re drifting or have lost our way. So, if you have been going through any type of difficulty and need encouragement or want practical tools for when life does get hard (because let’s be honest, we all go through hard times it’s just a matter of when!) this is the episode for you.

  • Ep 44: How To Attack Perfectionism
In the words of Beyonce, “Perfectionism is so…mmph (inserts eye roll).”
In today’s show, we’ll be discussing not only the dangers of perfectionism but how we can overcome it. If you’re anything like me, then you likely have dealt with the ugliness of perfectionism which many times leads to feelings of inadequacy. Sometime we wear it like a badge of honor and other times we are so debilitated by it’s criticism that we refrain from doing anything at all. Join us as we learn to quest for progression instead of perfection while being surprising satisfied right where we are.

  • Ep 42. From My Journal… Baby, Divorce Your Past! feat. Grant Griffin

Okay, let me clue you in to a little secret…

Many of this season’s show topics were birthed from my personal journal entries.

Now, If you’re familiar with me or my story, then you know that I STAN for journaling. I think there is something so transformational and powerful about writing down on paper the details of our thoughts. & I’m talking all of it. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It a safe place where I can be honest and vulnerable with how I’m feeling on a day to day basis.

Recently, I finished a journal entry (meaning I filled all the pages from beginning to end) and I took some time to reflect on those entries. You all, there were SO many lessons. SO many victories. SO many freeing moments.

& while I was reflecting… I knew that I had to share some of those reflections with you all. Which brings us to episode 42! The themes of “Baby, Divorce Your Past!” is a lovechild of my real-life learnings. I am joined this episode by my dear friend Grant Griffin. Grant is a pastor, friend, style expert and leader by example when it comes to forgiveness and operating with grace–which is what made him the perfect guest for today’s show.

    Friend,
Let me just start off by saying that I have missed you.
And when I use the word “miss” I want you to know that I’m not just talking pleasantries. I have really, truly missed you. I’ve missed creating content for you. I’ve missed seeing and reading all of your comments and feedback. Most of all, I’ve missed this space that we’ve created. This little corner of the internet that is safe and welcoming, yet still challenging and always enjoyable.
Don’t get me wrong, my vacation was absolutely necessary but I am more than grateful to be back with my #ByNameBeautyFam!
Speaking of…Family, I think it’s time that we celebrate!
Here we are, kicking off yet another season of the By Name Beauty Podcast and just a couple months shy of our three year anniversary.
Yep. Three WHOLE years of challenging and reshaping beauty culture for the better. Three whole years of uplifting voices and perspectives that have long been ignored. Three whole years of going beyond the surface of beauty to talk about things that actually matter.
Traveling on this growth-filled journey with all of you has been nothing short of adventurous and amazing. So, turn up the volume and join in for our Season 3 premier. Through a Q&A style conversation, we’ll reflect on where we’ve been and confidently look towards where we’re going.
