The spread of the coronavirus into a global pandemic has brought out its share of faultfinders. But asking who to blame is asking the wrong question.

Good or bad, blessing or curse, we tend to quickly judge people, ideas and events as one or the other. When we do, we miss out on a lot of possibilities because people, ideas, and events are a lot more complicated than that.

Listening is the doorway to learning. It may be a fact, or more often, another person’s perspective of the facts. Regardless, there is always something that can be learned by listening. 

In recent years there has been a parade of shipwrecked careers and bankrupted companies led by people whose egos got ahead of their values. Not only that, the pursuit of power and wealth has cost many men their souls.

Imagine our workplaces if everyone prayed for the person they wanted to criticize. Imagine our workplaces if everyone did what they needed to do with competence and with love. We’d likely get a lot more done and do it more perfectly.
