Continuing from the  last podcast, Mathew will be speaking to Dan about testing developers. Most companies have some of testing process they require developers to do, however many times there seems to be some problems ; 1. Some tests are really easy and the questions can be copied and pasted which proves nothing if developers pass. 2. Some tests have very little to do with the day to day for the job being tested. 3.Some tests do not evaluate the true ability and at times they can be used to turn away good candidates. 4. Every environment is different and it’s hard to assess how someone actually codes. We will be hearing Dan’s view and advice on this topic etc.

This is a session with Dan Blows ,Currently  Head of Engineering and has held positions such as Senior developer as well as a Tech lead. Dan  has done some really cool stuff, he's in the top 3% on stack overflow, in the top 10% of PHP developers in Europe, speaking at meet ups , spoke in the European conference in front of 100's of people, hiring, training and mentoring developers and many more. Many developers have side projects for different reasons, some companies really encourage it whilst others discourage it. We will be discussing on how both parties can find a middle ground as opposed to having a Yes or No approach, a middle ground which will be  beneficial for both parties.
