Alright I know I missed the deadline this month. The mix was recorded in time during the last show of October on Pressure radio. It then required me to get it uploaded which is where it all fell apart. To be honest there is just too much going on at the moment. Having said that no-one will know any different by the end of the year. This set is definitely on the deeper side. Most sessions these days have a decent 20 to 30 minutes of deep, but this one is a little longer than most. There are a couple of great tracks from an artist I haven't heard of before - Bohdi. Both "Satisfaction"and "Imperfection"are a couple of crackers. Have to also call out the fact that this month's mix is top and tailed by Andy Hart with two belters in "The Same For Me" and "Merkin". My favourite part of the set is from Kyodai's "So Special" to Lay-Far's "Side 2 Side". Not much to sing along to this month. Still not feeling a lot of the traditional soulful stuff right now, hope that changes.
We have a brief nod back to the past with three tracks that either hail from 20+ years back or use samples from that time. See if you can spot which ones, not the hardest test you will have done recently :). We also have Harry Romero for a second month with "Get Down". He seems to have chilled recently and it's more like Harry of the old early Sublimnal days.
Will try not to be late with November's release. Still have to sort out a Soulfuric and Subliminal set too. Not enough time for all the projects stacking up.
Finally the clocks have changed so the radio show is now two hours earlier for the next few months.
That means it is now
9 to 11pm Sydney
10am to 12pm UK
Bit too early in the US!

It's a case of third time lucky with this months mix. The initial version was recorded on my Pressure Radio show at the start of September but I wasn't happy with the flow in the middle section. The second attempt I completely stuffed up the latter part by switching sub-genres away form the phunk sound which made it a bit too heavy for too long. So we find ourselves recording it just in time with the last show of the month. To be fair it has allowed for a couple of newcomers to be added and the mix sounds better for it.
This session is also dominated by some great work coming out of the West Coast of the US right now. Moulton Music are in a golden spell right now, old favourites of mine Chris Lum and Dave Harness breathing life into the scene. I can't get enough of pretty much everything they are putting out. That's reflected by the fact this mix has no fewer than four releases from the label. It was very nearly five, but we'll save that one for next month :)
The flow for this mix is quite simple, a couple of initial deep tracks, then into the vocal stuff early. The main part is phunk infused rolling into the UK sound. As always the last couple of tracks allow for the warm down and stretch required after a good dance around the lounge.
Have started to play with the old vinyl again more often having done a Soulfuric radio show the other week. It has me talking through it, which i don't want to release, but I do want to get a Soulfuric session out soon. Also looking to do an all Subliminal session on Pressure soon. Not the crazy stuff they ended up doing, but the early days. Those tunes are quality and maybe unknown to a few people.
For now though here is another 2 hours of deep soulful house to keep us going for a few weeks.

It takes a lot to make it into the c2eMusic Legends hall of fame. I've listened to house music for well over half my life now and would be lost without it. During that time I've lost count of the number of artists I've bought and supported. Anyone can easily reel off dozens of famous producers in the scene. However I am always in favour of diversity during a set and this is what makes it tricky.
Sure it's easy to put together a diverse sounding set every month, sometimes every week if you can draw from every available track out there, allowing you to start off in one place and then embark on a journey.
However if you restrict yourself to just one artist it narrows the field down considerably. There are a huge number of artists out there that have produced a truckful of quality classics over the years, but you would struggle to listen to them back to back for TWO hours!
That for me is what puts Nick Moss aka Groove Assassin into this top class of producers. As it stands he sits shoulder to shoulder with the MAW, Joey Negro and Mr V all of whom have served up more than enough diverse quality to create a session dedicated to their sound.
The fact Nick hails from the city of Steel - Sheffield makes it even more of a treat. I spent my university years there in the mid 90's at the same time Nick was starting out in the scene. As a result we were both exposed to the same sounds and experiences in the many great nights Sheffield and the surrounding cities had at the time. Maybe this is what draws me to his sound so much. I wish I could say I remember hearing him play back in the day, I'm sure I must have as we partied in the same places, but it's a while back and the old grey matter has a few holes in it!
However I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with him on Sydney harbour a few years back to help celebrate Sean Doyle's birthday. He even dropped 'Deep Inside' into Elements of Life's 'Into My Life'. Lost on most people, but it's the same mix I did in the MAW Vol1 Legends mix. Suffice to say I got HUGE goosebumps. Hearing that in the sun on a boat in the harbour from a legend, hard to top.
Nick was also a resident DJ on Pressure Radio appearing alongside the likes of DJ Erv, John Mateo and the crew.
He is no stranger to c2eMusic either - just looking at the podcast he's mentioned no fewer than 70 times over the years! Yes that's right 70!
As for the tunes themselves, well where do you start?! From the sultry sound of 'Soul Tie' through the jazzy flow of 'Afternoon Delight' to the depths of 'Closer' the quality is off the hook.
Then we wade in with the heavy weights, 'We Shall Overcome', 'Soul Mutha' and 'Heaven'. The fact the three are mixed together is going to have me playing this over and over and over.
I've said it many times before 'Heaven'has pretty much got to be my all time favourite tack of all time. Yes - that is a HUGE statement to make, but when preparing the mix I actually had tears rolling down my cheeks when listening to main section of the track. A full seven years on and it still brings out emotions no other track over the years has.
It doesn't stop there though, we put our foot down and bring out the chunky muthas including 'Perfect Love'and 'Smile'.
We slow things down on the exit with more examples of his stunning vocal productions with 'Closer'and 'Feeling You' both with the unmistakable voice of Kenny Bobien.
The last track like so many is another Dub. Nick for me is the king of Dubs and I love me a good Dub.
I'm not talented enough to make house music, as much as I would love to. That doesn't bother me though when you have producers like Nick. He captures everything I want to hear in deep soulful house and so consistantly.
As is always the case when doing a mix like this people will say - what about this track or that track. Well Nick is showing no signs of slowing down, and neither am I. So that means we have a Vol2 to look forward to. :)
From all the listeners of c2eMusic around the world - we thank you Nick for all the great music you have graced us with so far. Long may it continue!

You can't keep a good mix down, despite my internet providers best efforts. Everything was ready to go, the weekly Pressure Radio show was underway and listeners were joining to hear the new mix for August. Optus my provider then decided it would be fun to mash up my connection over the next two hours at least. I couldn't even log on to FB to let people know why I couldn't play. Suffice to say I am now looking for a more reliable provider. So the mix was put on ice. The next opportunity to play on the radio and record the result was Saturday afternoon my time. I checked and the airwaves were free. John Mateo was in the chatroom but it was very late in NYC. Midway through JM needed to hit the sack, it was 4am over there to be fair, so I played a little game to see how many more tracks I could make him stay up to listen to! He is one of the biggest house heads I know.
By the time the show ended most of Europe had woken up, so a few listeners form the UK and Denmark jumped into the chatroom which was cool.
It has then taken a few more days to get it published. You see I have a week off in between jobs and whilst I wanted to get this out as quickly as possible, a kid free 48 hour break with my beautiful wife in Melbourne was never a fair contest.
So here we are, finally a bit of downtime to allow me to get this little badger out.
There are probably four distinct styles in this mix, the usual deep and sultry openers including the excellent "Swear Down"", into the cheeky chappy UK style featuring Grant Nelson, Opolopo and Danny J Lewis to name a few. A couple of prime slices of meat towards the end with "So Yeah"and "Going Down" and then the most delicious of deserts courtesy of The Sunchasers and Recloose. I have a sweet tooth which means the last track on this mix is my favourite. Huge respect to Recloose for making a track so spine tingling. I can't stop playing it, and whenever I do I have to stop whatever I'm doing to take it in.
Other big artists on here include Alex Agore, a very busy producer who is in great form right now. The Sunchasers are also new to me, but I'm sure glad to have finally found them. Scott Watson infuses a very sexy smooth deep sound of which we'll be hearing a lot more of. Remember the artist names are links to purchase any of the tracks that catch your ear. Support the artists in the scene, otherwise we have a lot of white noise on our players :)
Keep your eyes and ears out for the upcoming Groove Assassin special. Still putting it together but there are so many great tracks. Really looking forward to this. It will be the fifth addition to the "Legends" series, which already includes MAW, Joey Negro and Mr V.
Oh finally, don't be surprised to find yourself walking around shouting "Mizz Honey"- you'll see what I mean.

New mix for July, and for a change it's actually released towards the start of the month it represents! As for the image this month, some of you may know I am a huge trifle fan which like this months mix is full of ingredients that taste great on their own, but when mixed together - mmm mmm - delicious. Main difference is that this mix can be consumed as often as you like with no fear of adding pounds to your rear :)
I was going to describe this as a pretty chilled mix as the opening 30 minutes is deep "n" chilled whilst the last 30 minutes are soulful "n" smooth. However in between we have a mix of uptempo discofried goodies alongside some great thigh slapping Baltimore infused house. Yep there's that trifle metaphor again.
There are a few nuggets in here that put a spring in your step and a smile on your face. First up is "Pom" a track from late last year, which I only got my hands on last month. I love that style of house, whatever it's sub-sub-genre is called. It comes under "Deep House" but that means anything and everything these days.
Another cracker is actually a Jackin House track, which I rarely venture into, but "Baker's Dozen" is so damn catchy. I don't want to like it as much as I do, as the lyrics were annoying at first, but now I sing along at the top of my voice!
"Shuga" a track towards the end has a drop that reminds me of an old Michael Jackson track. I can't put my finger on which one, and I know it's not a sample of that track, but man it is bugging me like mad. If you guys can hear it too, please put me out of my misery. A comment on the podcast, or FB group with your thoughts.
Lastly we have a couple of tracks that are top drawer in their own right but when fused together reminds me of an old Louie Vega style mix from way back. Their discovery was accidental during the live show on Pressure. I didn't fade "Final Call" out waiting to see what happened and I'm glad I didn't. Really happy with the result.
And that as they say is that - another month another mix. I know June hasn't been released yet but it is almost ready. Mind you been saying that for the last 5 weeks :) I've listened to this mix a couple of times now, and it makes me happy which is what it's all about. Hope you get the same sensation when you have a listen.
Finally check out the live show on Pressure Radio on July 24th - 9pm - 11pm Sydney, 12pm to 2pm UK, 7am to 9am EST. I'll be joined by my favourite Sydney DJ and good friend Nick Vidal. He is Mr Consistency with a great deep soulful driving rolling sound and I'm looking forward to feeding from that vibe.

1: thatmanmonkz - Blowin' My Mind
2: Simba - Phase SeqOne

When the original Dirty Phunk show was put together over two years ago now I remember thinking how many tracks didn't make it in, and a follow up would be just around the corner. How time flies.
The crazy thing is Dirty Phunk 2 started off on the way home on the bus just 4 hours before the show as a panic to not having anything ready.
I started looking through folders for tracks of a disco/funk house style. It didn't take long to find a good solid 30 candidates, but the flow had to be improvised on the fly during the show.
The show itself was a whole lot of fun. It had been SPW the weekend before , not just any old SPW - but the BIG 50 and there seemed to be a whole load of sore footed dancers out there listening. There was a nice buzz in the chatroom too.
It's always fun trying to do a themed show and the disco sound is always a popular choice - it just puts a smile on your face.
Big thanks to everyone that tuned in during the show, and for the interactions on FB and in chat, made it a fun night/afternoon/morning depending on where you were.
There are some real firecrackers in this mix. The most dominant producer as you would expect is Dave Lee. Only fair really as he is the undisputed king of this style of house.
Hopefully it won't take another two years until the next disco infused house mix, but who knows, the years are flying by at the moment.
So go dust off those platforms, get your glitter ball hung up in the lounge and get Phunky.

This months show gets up to speed fairly quickly but has a nice long gentle come down.
It's a mix of deep sounds to start with followed by a couple of very lush vocal productions before some gentle UK vybes.
We then build with a combination of new tracks and older ones from earlier this year that have yet to feature in a podcast.
The tail on this thing is long and pretty chilled to give you chance to return to normality.
Stand out tracks for me on this podcast include Ürban Renewal", "Kattflickan", "Monkey Wrench"and Love Games" but I'm sure you'll have your own.
Shouts to Jules who joins us here on Pressure Radio at 6pm UK time on Thursdays. Jules has been a regular in the chatroom almost since the start. Great to see her part of the Pressure family.
Also a big shout to Kevin Anthony who used to follow my show every week. He was in the chatroom this week going through his music collection by seeing if he had what I was playing. He had 95% but I'm glad to have found the odd track he didn't have :P .
May is birthday month in the Haynes house. First up is my not so little boy Bailey, the original star on the c2e logo. He turns 7 on 17th May. Yes this podcast has been going that long!
Then it's my birthday at the end of May. I'll be adding another candle to my 30 something cake! That will mean I've been mixing music for 20 years. I reckon I'm passed the half way mark, but far from done.
To all those heading to SPW - have a great time, and a cheeky boogie for me please :)

I debated whether to release this mix, but the reality is I am struggling to find the time these days. The lack of a release in March is proof of that. Again I had a show that nearly hit the mark and I planned to re-record with a few changes, but before you knew it March was gone.
So I am going to put out the first show of April from Pressure radio. Another reason for doing so is that although this won't go down as one of the smoothest flowing podcasts, it does pack one hell of a punch in terms of the quality of the tunes.
Detroit Swindle are featured no fewer than three time, and it could have easily been more. If you haven't checked out their new album "Boxed Out" then make it a priority TODAY.
Other HUGE stand out tracks include the incredible Simeon Belle's "Take Me Over". This had the chatroom bouncing and had me sweating, even with the new air con fitted to the music room!
Demarkus Lewis is another producer that is bringing the deeeeep heat right now. Often known for his Jackin sound he would appear to have thickened up the stock and the result is devastating. We have two tracks from him, and they are both well worth waiting for.
Lastly we pay tribute to the late and unbelievably great Frankie Knuckles. Anyone into house is likely to have had at least one Frankie inspired moment such was the great man's influence.
Regular listeners will know that his Director's Cut releases with Eric Kupper have been a firm favourite here, and it leaves you feeling he has gone too soon as he had hit full stride.
I've played this mix a few times now and the fact that it makes me want to listen again is reason enough to share it with you all.
Will be looking to get back to some sort of normal service again in May. In the meantime - crank this mutha UP!
Finally with the clock changes up top and down below the show is now back to it's UK summer time of 12pm to 2pm. It will continue to be 9pm to 11pm in Sydney, and there is now no excuse for those of you on the east coast of the US and Canada not to tune in for breakfast.

Initially this month's podcast was looking like being a very mellow chilled affair. The tracks being purchased seemed to be on the deep side, the kind you would find in the early part of a mix. Don't ask me how, but the result is something very different (speeding up predominantly 122BPM tracks to 124 might have something to do with it.)
The mix has a real bounce through it. The first hour is full of great head nodding, foot tapping tunes. The second hour starts to thicken up, but just when you think it might go nuts up pops the genius that is Dave Lee with a track that changes the direction again.
I finally got the chance to play a track (well part of it) from the excellent Joey Negro Defected release from 2005. See if you can spot it, it's not in for long.
There was a surprise for everyone towards the end, myself included when the bass kicked in on "Find Your Light". A track with the longest remix name I think I've ever seen, answers on a postcard please if you know of a longer one .
The mix ends with a classic from the early 90's . No attempt made to mix it in. I've tried once before and it sounded rubbish! The voice is unmistakable and it brings back so many great memories.
Not sure whether the guys at Local Talk will give me a high five or slapped wrist as we have no fewer than 4 tracks from the inform label. Great work guys.
Great to see everyone in the chatroom again this week, especially BabacarD who was up early in the US to have a listen. Appreciate your support guys.
Thanks to everyone that has reached out with feedback and messages on Twitter, FB, the Podcast comments or c2eMusic posts. Always nice to hear from people around the world, at least I know people are listening and hopefully enjoying :).

So here we are first mix of 2014 and first up I'd like to say "Happy New Year" everyone, hope you all had a great break with friends and family.
January is usually a barren time for music and understandably so, I mean everyone needs down time and house music producers are no different.
In addition I'm very conscious of the strong UK Garage vybe that has flowed through most c2eMusic mixes in 2013. Don't get me wrong I love the sound, it takes me back to some great times back in the 90's where it all started, however variety really is a key ingredient in a c2eMusic mix which is evident if you go back through the archives. With this in mind I spent a fair bit of time trying to find a varied collection of sounds and styles to keep things interesting. The task is then to thread them together in a way that makes sense and flows effortlessly, and that is no five minute job believe me.
The goal was to create something with the same feel as the old podcasts from 2007 to 2011, but using new tracks and I am really pleased with the result.
Stand out track for me is the outstanding Pablo Martinez mix of "Get On Your Feet" but there plenty of other choice cuts to enjoy.
In the old c2eMusic style there is a bit of something for everyone in here, which keeps the mix interesting for the full 2hrs.
I think 2014 may only see a Monthly release on the podcasts. Other radio show recordings from the weekly show on Pressure can be found on the c2eMusic website, but they will be a blend of the old and new.
The radio show is still going strong so if you find yourself with a couple of hours free on a Thursday (night in Sydney, morning in UK) please tune in or even better jump into chat.
Thanks for everyone's support in 2013 it was a tough end to the year but I appreciate the messages of support. I hope to be able to bring music of the same quality as this mix throughout 2014 regardless of the styles used.
Again if you know of someone who needs a dose of warm smooth bass infused deep soulful house be sure to point them in this direction :)
Also don't be shy with the feedback. Is this mix the kind of thing you want to hear more of? What works for you and what doesn't? Which is your favourite track?
You can either leave a comment or send a message on the c2eMusic facebook page.
Finally - big hugs and kisses to my beautiful wife who's birthday was earlier this month. She then went on to celebrate with a luxury all inclusive week away at the local hospital in A&E and ICU! Not quite the start to the year we had in mind, but all is well now. Huge thank you for giving me the space to do this every week. It does take up a big chunk of time and I've been doing it for years now................I love you sooo much it makes my brain hurt.
