  • Ep. 7: Reading | Son of The Storm by Suyi Davies
Today I'm reading an excerpt from one of the most anticipated books in 2021. Son of The Storm gives off an afro-futuristic vibes and it's a fantasy book based on Africa. There'll be a Global South Blog Tour starting 22/05/2021 (Saturday). Accounts mentioned in the podcast are: @decentred_lit, @suyidavies, @joanzoya, @ghbookjunkie.

  • Ep. 6: Reviewing | The Mountains Sing & Ru
Today's episode is a review and reflection as well as comparison between two books written by Vietnamese women where they showed us the impact the Viet Nam war had on them and their families. Both books were similar and different but they both did the same thing; bringing to light the Viet Nam war and all of the many disasters caused by the war.

  • Ep.5: Reading | Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi
I decided to read Homegoing and it seemed appropriate for all that's going on right now. Homegoing tells the story of two sisters spanning through generations. It fits into one prompt on The Something Bookish Reading Challenge and I think it should be experienced.

  • Ep. 4: Reviewing | The First Woman by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi

Since this podcast started out with reading an excerpt from The First Woman, it seemed appropriate to review it at the end of the month. This book captured everything that is feminism, giving themes of motherhood, family and friendship.

If you haven't read this, then I suggest you pick it up, beautifully written as always with history being the  background of the story and never for once coming into the foreground and overshadowing it.

  • Ep. 3: Reading | Butter Honey Pig Bread by Francesca Ekwuyasi

On today's episode, I decided to read excerpts from a fave's new fave. Amyn (Lipglossmaffia) came on bookstagram and thrust on us another book that we needed to add to our TBR and as always I fell into it and decided to pick it up. It's an excellent read so far and I think you all should pick it up as well. Shelah (shelahthebookworm) also gave me a reason to pick it up as well and you can read both their reviews here and here.

If you like this please share and subscribe as well, thank you!

  • Ep.1: Reading | The First Woman by Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi
For this first episode I decided to read an excerpt from The Indulgent Bibliophile book club read for the month. Makumbi is an excellent storyteller and having read Kintu, I have such high hopes for The First Woman. Visit the blog to read the blurb on The First Woman. If you have any book you'd like me to read or review please me a voice message or a DM to any of my accounts on Instagram and Twitter.
