  • S1 E9: topics in my notes app
In this episode, I discuss thinking for yourself over people-pleasing, embracing self-interest, and avoiding the victim role. Stories talk about learning to set boundaries, say no, and choose your own path -- even when it’s hard.
it's possible to be thoughtful while valuing yourself.saying no doesn't make you selfish. believing you owe others your time/energy/happiness keeps you trapped in resentment. speaking up for yourself fosters freedom and growth.
roles of "team player" bring regret, not reward. personal purpose motivates, not duty. It's about you -- choose wisely!

  • S1 E8: confidence
in this episode i talk about confidence, where a lack of confidence stems from and how to gain confidence. stories of doubting abilities, struggling with imposter syndrome and persistent fears of failure, embarrassment or not meeting unrealistic expectations. the belief that confidence is an innate trait some possess and others forever lack. the truth is confidence cultivation is a skill developed through accepting life's imperfections, learning from mistakes and practicing self-compassion.
insecurities are learned, not inherent. they come from past hurts, comparing oneself to an unrealistic standard or messages implying flaws/shortcomings could be overcome by sheer willpower - if only confidence was built. doubt is a protectiveness of ego, not an unchangeable personal truth. facing its underlying roots through journaling, therapy or supportive conversations helps discover confidence foundations already present.
tools for gaining confidence include reframing mistakes as learning; evaluating ideas of perfection and fixed traits; challenging anxious thoughts; embracing vulnerability as courage source, not weakness; acting 'as if' self-assurance was natural state; praising growth over end goals; finding purpose through quiet passion pursuits. constant reassurance seeking maintains insecurity cycle.
cultivation begins by accepting 'good enough' and speaking kindly of yourself as you would trusted friend.
growth in confidence allows giving/receiving praise with gratitude rather than excuses. asking questions and taking risks to expand horizons in low-pressure ways. making progress over achieving ultimate aim. every small step builds upon itself until 'fake it til you make it' becomes truth. • S1 E7: embarrassment is a social construct
embarrassment is learned, not innate. awkward moments breed discomfort only because of stories told -- not truths. the anxiety ruminating after each blush-worthy event stems from judgment of how ‘i should have behaved’ versus life as messy, unpredictable human experiencing. embarrassment is a social construct.
fears of not appearing ‘cool enough’, talking too loud or wearing the ‘wrong’ clothes have no basis in actual human limitation or flaw. they come from worrying about living up to unrealistic attitudes of peer approval and status seeking. discomfort is felt mainly due to beliefs of how ‘grown up’, ‘perfect’ or ‘cool’ one 'should' seem based on age -- not natural tendency towards embarrassment. it is conditioned, not instinctual.
why embrace vulnerability to embrace life fully when every eyebrow raised or whispered laugh could be interpreted as indictment of character? when every slip up becomes awful reminder of not meeting standards of false hierarchical 'cool'. the answer: because authentic living -- not fabricated personas -- nourishes the soul. weirdness, awkwardness and foolish mistakes included. they make beauty.
tools for reevaluating each blush-worthy moment: will this matter in a year? what insecurities fuel this discomfort rather than any truth? who benefits from my embarrassment and why do their judgments seem so significant? choosing to laugh at life’s absurdity versus blush at my un-coolness transforms the experience entirely. embracing embarrassment as natural part of being human -- not flaw to hide or excuse -- leads to living free. all socials —> https://linktr.ee/callmecrazypod
