Romans 8 it one of the most hopeful chapters in the bible, as Paul writes about “the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” (2)
Previously we have looked at our need for Present Patience, as we wait for our redemption. Last week we read about our Present Help, as the Holy Spirit intercedes for us. Today we are looking at our Present Hope -these incredible doctrinal truths contained in the faith of the gospel-all that the grace of God in Jesus has given us.
In chapter 7, Paul described the present struggle—a spiritual man in a body of flesh, crying out, ‘Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death?’ And he pointed us to Jesus—our only hope.
Now, as we move into chapter 8, Paul shows us what that rescue looks like. He begins to unfold the effect of Christ in our lives—and the work of the Holy Spirit within us.
Romans 7 exposes the struggle within the Christian life—knowing what is right, yet failing to do it. Paul shows that the Law reveals sin but cannot overcome it, leaving us with one hope: rescue through Jesus Christ.
