Isaiah Ch 8 ends in trouble - darkness. The Lord had been speaking of the judgment that was to come upon the nation of Israel. How that the Assyrian invasion would utterly annihilate - overwhelm them -like a great river overflowing its banks-. The Assyrians would overflow even into the areas of Judah reaching all the way up to its neck. Coming right up to the capital city of Jerusalem, but God would be w-them -Immanuel-, He would take up their cause - fight for them - the Assyrians would not succeed in conquering them.

From a wonderful king to a wicked king. -That's the transition from Ch 6 to Ch 7.-Uzziah was a great king. Although his reign was tarnished by his transgression in the temple, overall, he served the Lord. His son, Jotham -who reigned coregent with him for a number of years after he was struck w-leprosy- was also a good king. But his son, Ahaz abandoned-the faith of his fathers - was wicked. He did evil in the sight of the Lord - brought God's judgment upon the land.
