There are so many distractions that are constantly trying to pull our focus from what really matters. If we allow ourselves to loss focus on the right things and get pulled to worthless things, our hearts will ultimately suffer. This happened to Asaph, the writer of Psalm 73. Although he was a great man of faith, he almost lost it all simply because he had his focus on the wrong things.

Joshua - 4:1-7

God instructed His people to build stones of remembrance to serve as a physical reminder of God’s faithfulness so they wouldn’t forget and so the future generation would know what God had done.

Remembering what God has done gives us faith for what He will do.

In Luke 15, Jesus told 3 parables highlighting the joy when the lost become found.

The lost sheep, the lost coin, and the lost son. 

The shepherd went after the lost sheep, and the widow went after the lost coin.

The difference in the third parable is that the father didn’t go after the lost son. 

He knew the son had a free will and had made up his mind.

But the father never stopped waiting & watching for the lost son. 

He was always waiting for the moment when the son would ‘come to his senses’ and return home. 

When lost sons & daughters hit rock bottom and choose to come back home, we want to respond like the loving father, not the older brother.
