Jesus had a way of calling people to make a decision. Zacchaeus just wanted to stay out of the game and on the sidelines up in a tree. That is, until He met Jesus.  Serving came with a cost, but he determined it was worth it.  

From the stands:

1. You can critique

2. You can root without responsibility 

3. You’re not really IN the game

Choose to get in the game - that’s where real joy and satisfaction takes place. And you’ll get to be closer to Jesus.

The Pharisees continued their quest to trap Jesus and accuse Him of blasphemy.

They said it was unlawful to heal on the Sabbath. Jesus, who knew their law better than they did, showed that it is always okay to do good on the Sabbath.

Jesus healed a man with a withered hand with just a command.

Because Jesus embarrassed & humiliated the religious leaders, it would be a point of no return for Him.

From that point on, the Pharisees conspired to kill Jesus.

Jesus gave a loving invitation to take His yoke.

For centuries, the Jews had been burdened with the heavy yoke of man-made rules that were impossible to keep.

Jesus came along and offers a great exchange: disconnect from all the other yokes, and connect to Him to find peace & rest.

Then He told us that He is Lord of the Sabbath.

He knows our limitations as humans, and that we need a 24-hour period of time every week to rest, refresh, and renew.

So many things in life can weigh us down; none bigger than sin.

In Matthew 11, Jesus warned the unrepentant towns to turn from their sin or face consequences.

Repentance: To change one’s mind or turn around

1. God requires repentance

2. Failure to repent results in consequence.

3. The Greater the revelation, the Greater the accountability.

4 Repentance is a loving invitation.

We can’t truly appreciate the grace of God until truly understand the judgment of God.

Kill the sin before it kills you.
