- Jesus finishes the Sermon on the Mount with a sober warning. There are consequences to our choices. God has given us the ability to choose what we want to do with our lives, and we are free to choose whatever. The problem though, is that we eventually will run into the laws of nature, the natural consequences of our choices. It's inescapable. And Jesus so lovingly tells us the truth, so that we can be prepared.
