Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” There is a reason the Lord tells us this. He knows all things, and we don’t! Because we know He loves us and has our best interest at heart, we should be able to trust Him, even when we don’t understand what He is saying or doing in our lives.

Second Peter provides a strong warning against false teachers who seek to enter the church and pervert the truth. But before Peter deals with these false teachers, he calls upon believers to understand what God has provided for them and then to passionately pursue growth in these things in order to stand against the dangerous deception they will face.

How many of us are suffering consequences due to a situation that was out of our control? How many of are suffering consequences because of a foolish decision? You see the reality is we face both scenarios throughout our lives. Consequences come in different shapes and sizes, but they always come with sorrow and grief. Some consequences are a direct chastisement from the Lord due to direct disobedience, however some consequences are simply due to the results of a fallen world and the laws of nature.
