Let's turn to the Book of Psalms for a special Mother's Day message. Here in Psalm 127 we are reminded of the importance of not only seeing our role as parents correctly, but seeing our kids correctly.

How many of us are suffering consequences due to a situation that was out of our control? How many of are suffering consequences because of a foolish decision? You see the reality is we face both scenarios throughout our lives. Consequences come in different shapes and sizes, but they always come with sorrow and grief. Some consequences are a direct chastisement from the Lord due to direct disobedience, however some consequences are simply due to the results of a fallen world and the laws of nature.

Once again, today’s message contains an uncannily timely warning for our nation! While the Lord never approves of evil, sometimes He will allow something shocking to occur as a wake-up call to those whose hearts are too hard to hear Him in any other way. The grisly actions the Levite took after the abuse and violent death of his concubine were intended to shock the complacent Israelites out of their numbness to sin, and into repentance! May we believers always have hearts that are soft and sensitive to the Spirit, so that we can be a beacon of holy grace to reveal the light of the Lord to those in darkness!
