This is the third and final piece of a longer conversation with Fr. Charles McCarthy. We respond to Bishop Barron's article "1917 and Remembering Who We Are" (Jan. '20), in which he seems mystified as to how Christians, "presumably schooled in the moral principles of Jesus Christ," could have participated en masse in the "folly of war" during WWI, especially since the war was not "proportional". The answer is simple.
