A Cambridge City Councillor has been left with a £34,000 legal bill after intervening on behalf of residents to stop alcohol from being sold in a Mill Road Supermarket. Labour's  Richard Robertson was trying to prevent street drinking after the Council’s Licensing Sub Committee granted an alcohol licence to the new Mill Road Co-op.

The developer of a new office scheme on Hills Road is promising to preserve and upgrade The Flying Pig. The pub closed its doors in October 2021 with the railway pension fund RailPen purchasing the Botanic Place site from Pace Investments last summer. Mixed-use developer Socius has planning consent for a 500 thousand square foot scheme, that it says will become the most sustainable and intelligent workspace in Cambridge.
