The former URI Alumni speaks about her time with the University and how she was able to outlet herself into different programs and internships to get into the position she is in currently reporting for the Tennessee Titans.

I sat down with Head Coach of the Football Team at the University of Rhode Island, Jim Fleming, to talk about his historic 25 + seasons as a college coach of football.

Before his tenure at URI, Fleming has made it all across the country coaching teams at all different kinds of coaching positions. His first head coaching opportunity came about at Sacred Heart, where he led the team during his two year tenure going an overall 21-1 including a National Championship title.

He then would find himself a few years later back in 2014 with the University of Rhode Island, picking the program back up on it’s feet taking them to their first winning season in 17 seasons back in 2018.

Frank Carpano of WJAR Channel 10 in Rhode Island joins Cam’s Corner to talk all about his historic sports broadcasting career.

Frank arrived at NBC 10 in 1980, shortly after graduating from Ithaca College. He has been sports director and primary sports anchor since 1984.

For several years, Frank could also be seen as a fill-in sports anchor at WNBC-TV in New York City.

During his tenure at NBC 10, Frank has also served as play-by-play announcer for Brown University football, Providence College hockey and numerous televised high school basketball and football games.

Frank has also served as a Championship Boxing ring announcer. And for more than 20 years he has been the public address announcer at Providence’s Dunkin' Donuts Center for Providence College basketball games.

Carpano is a 12-time National Association of Sportscasters and Sportswriters "Sportscaster of the Year" winner.

Frank has also been inducted as a member of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences – Boston/New England Chapter Silver Circle. (turnto10.com)

Coach Jamal Gomes of the Hendricken Men’s Basketball Team and Athletic Director joins this weeks edition of Cam’s Corner.

After graduating from Hendricken in 1991, Gomes continued his playing career at Stone Hill College, where he would play along side Friars legend Ed Cooley. He totaled in 1,082 career points, earning him a spot in Stone Hill’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019.

Spending some time playing over seas in Ireland, he realized he wanted to become a teacher of the game, as he landed the head coaching job at Hendricken in 2000.

Since then, the rest is history. Over 350 program wins 11 state titles, RIBCA 2 time coach of the year and 6 time championship coach of the year for Coach Gomes.
