Hebrews 6:4-6 contains some of the most controversial verses in the Bible. Many Christians interpret the text to mean that Christians can lose their salvation. However, that’s not what the author of Hebrews is saying.

If we could lose our salvation because of our works, we would lose it every time we sinned. This is why our salvation is secured by God’s Son and sealed by God’s Spirit. Our salvation is not a reward for our works but a gift based on Christ’s work.

These verses are a warning for Christians who choose to live in sin, disbelief, and disobedience. God promises to chasten and discipline any of His children who choose to live in sin and rebellion. There will be eternal consequences when the redeemed of God rebel against God.

If you’re a child of God, you cannot sin and win. God will put you under conviction, and you can either respond and repent or continue to walk in disobedience.
