  • SwimBikeRun with Martin Austwick

Emily Shaw shares firsts from her triathlon journey.

This piece was created with Martin Austwick for the Audio Flux "Firsts" call for submissions. The requirements were:

    • Run exactly three minutes
    • Reference an object related to a “FIRST” (yours or someone else’s)
    • Include the sound of time passing (forwards or backwards, no clocks please)
    • Be accompanied by a handwritten document (i.e. outline, title page, transcript, or something else entirely, provided digitally)*

Music by Martin Austwick. Special thanks to Coach JD (John Dahlz), the Golden Gate Triathlon Club Summer 2024 Short Distance Program, Sarah Boudreau, James Webb, and Martin Almaraz.

*We used handwritten swim times that I calculated and stuck to my fridge.

  • GUEST ARTIST: Ken Felton's Grocery Trip

Ken Felton is an Audio Director and Sound Designer with decades of experience. He's worked at Electronic Arts, Sony PlayStation, Spatial Inc, Dolby, and more.

Ken created Grocery Trip during lockdown in 2020, in order to practice working with different binaural encoding tool sets on his Pro Tools-based production rig (i.e. FB360, Dolby Atmos, dearVR, etc).

Since late 2023, he's been focused on collaborating with teams to create immersive and healing soundscapes by developing audio experiences that promote wellbeing and good health. • AI Experiment #5: Sandwiches with Ariana Wolf

Sandwiches was written and performed by Ariana Wolf (and her AI voice via Descript.) This slightly remixed version was produced by Emily Shaw.

Ariana Wolf is a creative leader, known for her poetry, photography, and introspective essays that delve into the complexities of the human experience.

Through her Substack account, Kitchen Table Pages, she invites readers into her world, where she shares her musings, reflections, and curiosities.

When she's not immersed in her creative pursuits or running her design studio, Flight Design Co., she can be found at her home in Oakland, nestled in with her two children and beloved dog, Marigold.

  • GUEST ARTIST: Stepfanie Aguilar's Laundry Day

(Spotify removed the original version because it flagged it as "music", so I created this new version with Stepfanie introducing the piece. Special thanks to Jason Reinier for engineering support.)

Stepfanie Aguilar is the creator of Brewing Tangents, an audio garden presenting the maker's miscellaneous curiosities and whims: personal documentaries, interviews, abstract audio art, field recordings, and spells.

This track was originally featured on a compiled mixtape released in May 2022 called LYOO1: Water. The mixtape was created in support of the human rights and environmental rights defenders in the Philippines. Please check out the website for more information.

All proceeds (the purchase of the mixtape) go to Liyang Network's Climate Justice Campaign and the Memorial Fund of the New Bataan 5.
