Dimitri Orlov scored Carolina's only goal in the 2nd period when his drive from above the left face off circle was deflected by a Penguins forward and beat Nedeljkovic to tie the game at 1. The loss, coupled with the Rangers win over the Flyers at Madison Square Garden saw the Hurricanes slip to 3 points behind New York with just 9 games left to play. Carolina hosts Detroit on Thursday at PNC Arena.
