As we begin our new series, Becoming the Church, Bryan & Shayla invite us to lean in as we explore the letter of 1st Corinthians.
We begin a new series through 1st Corinthians: Becoming the Church; in which we will explore how God forms a holy people not by removing them from the mess, but by bringing the cross, the Spirit, and resurrection into the middle of it.
1st Corinthians 1:1-9 with Bryan Rouanzoin
Mark 2 with Bryan Rouanzoin
Sabbath teaches us to feast -- to truly delight in all God has provided. We remind ourselves of God's abundance in a world of scarcity.
Matthew 11 with Bill Dogterom
This week Bill teaches on the ways embracing Sabbath works its way into the rest of our lives -- its changes how we keep time, how we release control, and how we learn to trust God more wholly.
Shayla has a conversation with a member of the Canopy Church community, Katie, on the experience of practicing sabbath. They touch on their journey to practicing sabbath, the challenges that have emerged, and the things they are learning along the way from God!
This week Pastor Bill Dogterom teaches on learning to rest which requires surrender and trust.
Matthew 11:28-30 & Psalm 23
Sabbath is more than a day off. It is a weekly invitation to reorder our lives around the presence, goodness, and provision of God.
In a world shaped by hurry, productivity, and endless striving, Sabbath teaches us another way. We begin by ceasing—stopping our work, our anxiety, and our need to prove ourselves. We learn to rest—receiving God’s gift of renewal for our bodies, minds, and souls. We embrace God’s values, purposes, and invitations, allowing him to reshape our loves and priorities. And we feast—celebrating God’s abundance with joy, gratitude, worship, and community.
Throughout this four-week journey, we’ll explore how this ancient practice creates space for deeper communion with God, healthier rhythms of life, and a renewed vision of what it means to live as God’s people in the world.
Sabbath is not an escape from life. It is a weekly return to the life we were created for.
At the end of our 16-week long series, we pause to look back and tell stories of what God has done in us.
