It is not only Black History Month, but we are also celebrating Valentine's Day 2021. What better way to combine BHM with VD than to look at Famous Black Couples? Zeba Blay, a cultural writer, in a Black Voices article dated 2/11/2016, stated that black love can be beautiful, inspiring, and radical. Yes, there is a radiance of beauty to behold with challenges as black loves can be radical with a taste of angry, mistrust, and misunderstanding. There is also an inspiration as one watched the real-life episodes of some famous black couples. Blay suggested that during the relationship struggles in the lives of these famous black lovers, they have overcome through endurance and support for each other. That's the inspiring aspect of black loves amidst the radical overtones. January 24, 2021 The Biden/Harris Inauguration - 2021
After the 2020 presidential elections in the United States, many of us waited with bated breath for the inauguration of the country's 46th president, Joe Biden, and vice president, Kamala Harris. Despite the challenges preceding January 20, 2021; the inauguration ceremony was successful. Success may be relative to the lens of the viewers; however, it was entertaining and easily displayed a proportion of the traditional show. As a Caribbean immigrant, this sort of political transition of power is unusual as it was more extravagant than the transition in Jamaica. Indeed, such extravagance would not have been expected from a small country like Jamaica. Naturally, the COVID-19 pandemic had forced the suspension of more elaborate displays and post-event pleasantries. Anyway, it was a great function. Therefore, the inauguration was important because of its display of bipartisanship and entertainment.
