On the day after Halloween in 1974, children across the US watched in horror as their parents threw out every last piece of candy they’d collected the night before during Trick or Treat. It was a severe but necessary precaution - a child had died after consuming a poisoned pixie stick. For Deer Park, Texas Trick or Treat would never feel completely carefree and innocent ever again..

In February of 2008, an Illinois woman discovered a large fire blazing away in her husband’s personal garage. She called 911 and prompted  the response of local Illinois police officers and firefighters. Their initial findings lead them to believe that a freak accident involving a 3-ton hydraulic jack and a large, diesel fueled truck caused the death of  her  husband. But upon further investigation, they quickly discovered that the fire was no freak accident, and that the badly burnt body they recovered from the scene was not the man they were led to believe it was.

Two sisters serving as maids in France in the 1930s suddenly and without warning, committed the most heinous and shocking crime France had ever known. To this day, the motive behind their violent crime has never been very clear. Many believe their brutal actions were a consequence of their unstable upbringing. Others think it was an act of madness while some think their actions were a symptom of the era’s extreme class warfare going on in France.
