Easter Sunday. Broken Things. 

Him rising to victory over brokenness

1) Sin is broken. Rom6:4-14. The curse is broken from our lives. I am not enslaved. Sin does not rule me. I cannot do it in my own strength Rom8:2. I can call in the power of the HS. He has already paid the price. They have been dealt with already. We access to the power of the HS. 

My life can be used by the glory of God. Jesus defeated death and hell. 

I am no longer under the law but freed by Gods grace. A new covenant. I can live in liberty. 

2) Chains are broken. Is9:2-7. Because the stone is rolled away, we are freed from the chains of sin. No more bondage. Freedom from our oppressors. Let's not hold onto things we have been freed from. Don't fail your identity from what you have been through but who you are in  Christ Jesus. Whom the Son sets free is free indeed. 

3) Walls are broken. Ep2:13-19. The good news of peace. All can come to the Father through Jesus. He tore down the wall of separation. The wall between us and God. The wall is broken between His people. We are invited into the family of God. Joint heirs. Permanent access to the a Father. To become more like Him. A wealthy inheritance much of which we can claim now. Welcome to the family. Jesus tore down the wall. 

 

He has broken through. The only barrier left is us and our decision. He understands our brokenness. He can turn it into breakthrough.

Christ understands your brokenness through His sacrifice on the cross. Four signs of His brokenness are a broken body, broken heart, broken promises and broken dreams

If we believe in God the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth then how do we respond to it?

Visiting Pastor Mark Hopkins shares a message on the journey with Jesus, Jesus restoring a demon possessed man, and the impact of change.

We don't always know or understand what God is doing in and around us. We can focus on our own situation which may be some sort of trouble, but God always knows and is there to lead us into good opportunity. Jesus was prepared to go through a storm to change one man's life in order for that man to impact many others.The pigs in the area represented something that needed to be removed. For the Israelites, who God set apart from other nations, pigs represented idolatry and wrong choices.The enemy tries to lay on us stuff that binds us up and leads us to death. Jesus came that we might have life and life more abundantly. God wants to bring freedom, hope and release in our life so that we can bring it to someone else.In the passage three things were asked of Jesus:

The demon possessed man - Can we go into the pigs.

The people - Please leave the area.

The released man - Can I go with you.

Jesus came to disturb the comfortable and to comfort the disturbed.We can hear many voices when change happens, how can we tell what is from God and what is not?

The wrong crowd's voice dehumanizes the situation. God loves people.

The wrong crowd in our head doesn't like commitment to something new. Change can make something that is ok great.

The wrong crowd is motivated by fear which is often irrational. Seek good counsel and don't respond to negativity.

The wrong crowd loses amazement. The miracles have not stopped occurring, there's more, don't stop believing, choose to keep on praying and believing for God to reveal his miracles.

The first paragraph of a novel is very important to set the scene. The most profound introduction is the first 5 words of the Bible. In the beginning God created. It is the first revelation of God himself.

Visiting Pastor Mark Edwards offered an alternate title for his message 'The only lesson I learned from Big Bang Theory'. When two objects collide either one or both objects speed will be impacted.You will have collisions in your life. How you handle those collisions will effect the speed of your life. God puts us on display in our collisions. How you handle the collision is up to you. God is present at every collision but we are the stewards of how we respond. They can be chapters in our life's story, God moments in our life. These collisions can be as follows:

Collisons with unfair circumstances. Taking the wrong direction will lead to bitterness.

The collision of being forgotten. God is the master of timing.

The collision of challenging relationships. Taking the wrong direction will lead to unforgiveness.

All of these collisions impacted Joseph but God meant them for good and to save many lives. How do people view you in your collisions? Too many of us hit the wall and stop.We need to aim for an increase in speed after our collisions and keep moving in the right direction, faith works.Scripture:

All relationships commence with distance. As you meet someone gradually you open up and become more vulnerable. We have freedom of choice and can step away. Except for one. The relationship with you and God. He is fully intimate with you on first meeting. His character is on display and He never distances himself.

Who is this God. If we don't know Him then how can we be intimate with Him. This is the essence of who He is. God is on display as the God of renewal. He takes an empty formless thing and renews it. Dare to believe in renewal.

1) God uses what you already have and renews it. There is nothing wrong with change but God can restore. 

2) Renewal comes from God so that everyone can see it was God who did it. You are on display to a world who is longing for God. God craves to renew you. There is no distance.
