The South African Federation of Trade Unions says it is saddened by the exclusion of organised labour representatives in the National Council on Gender-Based Violence and Femicide. The council was appointed by President Cyril Ramaphosa and it is mandated to provide strategic leadership on the elimination of gender-based violence and femicide in South Africa. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, SAFTU's Nontobeko Luzipho who is the Deputy General Secretary said they do not believe that those who have been appointed have enough knowledge of how women are victimised in the workplace and they hope that the President will reconsider his decision.

Employees of the University of South Africa have reached a breaking point due to intense workload and other unfavourable working conditions at the institution. This has been revealed by a survey conducted by Solidarity which says it has called on the government to urgently intervene. Solidarity’s Anique Niemand who is the organisation's Network Organiser for Professional Sector has told Nghamula Chauke that some employees are already suffering from mental breakdown and one of the solutions that can be implemented is to have the institution providing extra support to lessen the workload on employees.

The Winter initiations season has claimed 43 lives of initiates. The Deputy Chairperson of the Cultural, Religious and Linguistic Rights Commission George Mahlangu spoke to Nghamula Chauke and said that cases vary per province from initiates who died from dehydration while others were part of illegal initiation schools which were non-compliant with safety regulations. Mahlangu says the commission has launched an independent investigative mechanism, known as the Section 7 Committee, to investigate the deaths and ensure accountability for any violations linked to the initiation season.

The South African Social Security Agency in Limpopo has admitted that there was a time when its internal systems were compromised and that progress has been made to ensure that there are no corrupt activities by its employees moving forward. This conversation comes after the agency released a media statement informing the public that  four officials from the Nebo Local Office in Sekhukhune have been dismissed following their alleged involvement in fraudulent activities amounting to R33 million in social grants. The South African Local Government Association in Limpopo says the developments around the National Treasury temporarily withholding the July 2026 equitable share transfers to selected municipalities in the province and across the country is a bitter pill to swallow. SALGA says municipalities also need ensure that they practice fiscal discipline and ensure that public money is properly managed. Speaking to Nghamula Chauke, SALGA chairperson in Limpopo, councillor John Mpe says there are some interventions that have been put in place to assist the affected municipalities.

The Democratic Alliance in Limpopo has told Nghamula Chauke that it welcomes the precautionary suspension of the Limpopo Legislature Secretary, Dr. Timothy Maake following allegations of irregularities including alleged procurement scandal of R12.5 million paid to a law firm with alleged family ties to him. The party is calling on the establishment of an Ad Hoc Committee to probe the allegations of irregularities which occurred during Dr. Maake's tenure. Both Advocate Franco Marx who is the DA provincial spokesperson on Legislature Oversight and the Limpopo Legislature speaker Dr Makoma Makhurupetje had this to say about this matter.

The University of Mpumalanga has denounced the campaign spearheaded by some academics that suggest that the institution is responsible for the death of one of its lecturers Dr Mpho Motseki who is said to have succumbed to depression. Fellow academic and Motseki family spokesperson Professor Kgothatso Shai told Nghamula Chauke that the late academic was subjected to bullying and unfair labour practices in the institution. University of Mpumalanga spokesperson Tlangelani Ubisi says it is unfortunate that Professor Shai and others are peddling untrue information around this matter which is viewed as uncultured.

The MEC for Transport and Community safety in Limpopo Violet Mathye has issued a stern warning to road users, this as the department launched the Easter Road Safety Arrive Alive Campaign. Mathye says the province will deploy law enforcement officers at all the major routes in the province and there will be cameras all over that will capture those who are speeding. She told Nghamula Chauke that this time around; officers will show no mercy to those who are found disobeying the rules of the road.

Limpopo government says by the end of June, it will be done with its project of building a home for the mother of twins who were born conjoined. The Premier of Limpopo Dr Phophi Ramathuba led a sod-turning ceremony at Navana village under Majeje Tribal Authority, Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality. The twins were born on 28 January 2026 to a 29-year-old mother at Mankweng Tertiary Hospital where they were successfully separated by a team of specialist doctors led by Professor Nyaweleni Tshifularo. Premier Ramathuba has told Nghamula Chauke that she had promised to build a home for the family before the surgery and now she says they will be able to spend Christmas in the home that will also be fully furnished.

Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training Dr Mimmy Gondwe has visited colleges in and around Polokwane as part of the intergovernmental campaign to uncover and shutdown bogus institutions. The deputy minister says these bogus colleges are a complex problem that requires a firm response from every level of government and are linked to criminal activities. In Mankweng, she issued an ultimatum to College of Africa and Pentagon Colleges to comply with government regulations or face closure. This is what she had to say while speaking to Nghamula Chauke:
