In Luke 8 we see two miracles (the old lady and young girl). Jesus' ability to heal and perform miracles had to two purposes. The first was to show the power of his Heavenly Father and His Glory. The Second was to give us small glimpses of the way it should be - NO Death or Diease. His mission was to bring Shalom - complete reconciliation - spiritual, emotional, and social reconiliation.

In Matthew 4 Jesus is still wet from his baptism encounter with John the Baptist at the Jordan. Now that his Heavenly Father has testified Jesus is his son here to rescue us, He now goes into the desert to prepare for his ministry. After an toe to toe battle with Satan he goes in search of those whom he led and model the Good News of the Gospel. Jesus shows us that we can defeat the evil one and that discipleship is more than a church service.

Jesus' ministry doesn't begin with an Earth shattering miracle or some jaw dropping sermon. It begins a humble meeting between John the Baptist and baptism in the Jordan. See how Heaven Breaks through and impacts us.

Capstone always starts the new year sharing some of the new things we are adding to make our commuity of faith better. And we always end with a reminder of why we do what we do. As we wrapped up our time in the Old Testment we looked at the Old Testament Prophecies of the King to Come. The coming of Christ was no accident, but planned out in every detail.

Psalm 23 is one of the most known of all the Psalms. Here we see God using David to not only describe God has his Shepherd, but also pointing to Jesus in the New Testament as the Good Shepherd. Jesus goes into great detail describing his relationship with his followers as their shepherd. His audience would of automatically thought of Psalm 23 and David description of God. Will follow the voice of the shepherd?
