        • A Life Transformed: Recovering from alcoholism, the reality of A.A. and finding real happiness!

In today’s episode, The Mentors Radio Host Tom Loarie talks with Teddy W—a recovering alcoholic, now 16 years sober. It’s real. In-depth. Fascinating and Down-to-earth. Together, they talk about alcoholism, its deceptive attraction, how it can take over lives, how Alcoholics Annonymous (AA) works and the absolutely freeing and transformative power of persistent good habits. Many today don’t realize that alcoholism is like the elephant in the room that nobody talks about. Although drug overdose deaths dominate headlines, excessive drinking is the #1 leading cause of preventable death in the United States. From 2015 to 2019, alcohol was responsible for more than 380 deaths per day. It affects each of us in some way, if not through our own experiences then through those of friends, family or colleagues. This episode is a fabulous insider view with inspiration for everyone!

In this episode, The Mentors Radio Host Ric Brutocao talks with guest Dan McClory, the award-winning president and head of China equity investments for Boustead Securities, about Dan’s career journey and more. McClory excels in bringing companies public, and in less time than it typically takes to get to IPO. With investment-related career experience spanning from the U.S. to Italy and China, he brings a wealth of sharp business growth and investor banking insight to any discussion. But knowledge alone doesn’t close big deals; that’s anchored in understanding people and business.

In this episode, Dan talks about the irreplaceable value of understanding people, the power of what we can learn from failures, capital and investment strategies, how to satisfy the ongoing need for growth capital, the importance of always moving forward regardless of success or failure, and a relentless commitment to “getting things done.” He also lays out the criteria for a company to go public, what it means, how to get there, and how smaller companies now have a new option to get to IPO and to do it faster than ever before. • Courage and Character led now-suspended FBI Special Agent Steve Friend to become latest FBI Whistleblower, Learn His “Why” on The Mentors Radio

In this episode, The Mentors Radio host Tom Loarie talks with UND grad and suspended FBI Special Agent Steve Friend, a respected 12-year veteran of the FBI and a SWAT team member. But this interview is not about the details of Steve’s recent bombshell whistleblowing.

This interview is about Steve’s career, his journey, his character, his compass and anchor points…his “why”... The challenge he faced could easily apply to anyone, in any position, at any time. An excellent reminder that in work and in life—and in finding happiness and peace of soul—character counts!

What would you do if the company leadership where you worked asked you—expected you—to do something unethical, something that went against clearly stated corporate principles, or against an oath you took (perhaps as a medical doctor, nurse or law enforcement officer, or in any kind of business position)?

the This same question was faced by leadership and higher-level employees at the ENRON company many years ago. The same question was faced by a young Naval Officer at sea when the highest ranking commander on that ship refused to respond to an SOS call the young officer had received, even though their ship was the closest one to the cry for help plea. In each of these examples, some people stood up, respectfully, and endured consequences until the truth won out.

At some point, we each have to answer this question in one way or another… many times during our lives. Steve Friend gives us an inside look at his “why.”
