Caregivers and Alzheimer's

Sue talks about resources to help you when you are ready to reenter employment, health, and finances. One of the many programs that Sue talks about is "Every Women Counts" in California. There similar programs throughout the US. Sue provides the phone numbers to contact for further information.  You may need to listen more than once as there is much information.  What is MISP and why you should know this?  This is why I encourage you to listen because there is much information on this audio that will help you in so many ways.  Sue does much research to share to help you in your journey. Lorri talks about her sister, mother and how she handled her relationship with her partner Michelle. How important communication is with your spouse. Lorri’s sister Mary Jo was first diagnosed with Primary Progressive Aphasia and then diagnosed with Moderate to Server Dementia.

Betsy talks about Suicide. Depressions and Caregiving. There is a stigma when someone is seeking help for depression, especially for men. Speaks about when perhaps a police officer, Firefighter or Veterans seek help are stigmatized and look down upon. Who are you to judge? Betsy does talk about her depression and how she was in that rabbit hole. Betsy is not a Therapist, she is speaking on her own experience. Betsy talks very candidly about depression and to stop being so judgemental.

Most people want information ASAP and do not take the time to understand what each of these providers will handle.  In this series, we tell you time and again to understand the process.  Some will lose work, their homes and more because they did not take notes or ask questions.

Host Betsy Wurzel is a caregiver for her husband Matt for the past 9 Years. Betsy is very vocal on bringing more awareness for Dementia/Alzheimers. Marcia used the massive hurricane Dorian that was moving towards Florida. What type of preparation, you would need water, batteries, food and much more. In that preparation, you are also a caregiver for a loved one with Dementia/Alzheimers. What other items do you need for your loved one? There could be a long list of items for survival. You made need to have a list of items that would include, medication, clothing, social security card and more. Most Floridians already have disaster boxes with much-needed items and information. So like a Floridan a Caregiver also needs a Disaster Box with items for their loved one.
