  • Live Chat: The Reggae Legend KING YELLOW MAN Live with Princess Zambia
Live Chat: Happy Hour Jamaica Style with Princess Zambia and Friends
King Yellowman has an incredible history in Reggae music. His upbringing at the Maxfield Home orphanage in Kingston and being albino in Jamaica were two obstacles the he overcame and went on to be (at one time) the biggest reggae artist since Bob Marley.
After winning a talent contest at Tastee Patties in Kingston, Yellow went on to excite reggae crowds all over Jamaica and the rest of the world with his boastful and sometimes bodacious lyrics. His ability to ride rhythm and excite a crowd made Yellow an instant hit in Jamaica. He also began to work with the Ace Sound System in St. Thomas and drew big crowds at his dancehall performances. Later in his career, Yellow began to spread out and work for a number of different producers, sometimes releasing as many as five albums per year. This led to a recording contract with CBS Records.

  • W.W.1 The War That Ended Peace was white men's ignorance in denial
The 100th anniversary of the beginning of World War I is upon us. Well we should mourn this cataclysmic event and continue to draw lessons from it. As a former soldier and military historian, I’ve always felt that WWI was the most tragic conflict in modern history: a totally avoidable madness that wrecked Europe’s glittering civilization and led directly to World War II, Hitler and Stalin.  This mournful anniversary has reopened fierce debate over who was responsible for the Great War. On one side of the debate is historian Margaret MacMillan, whose new book “The War That Ended Peace,” lays primary blame on Germany’s military and commercial ambitions. MacMillan is a nice lady – I’ve debated her on TV – but her tedious new book is so steeped in traditional British/Anglo-Saxon bias against Germany as to be of limited value. On the other is “The Sleepwalkers – How Europe Went to War in 1914” by Cambridge professor Christopher Clark. This brilliant book is the finest, most instructive, best balanced book ever written on the origins of the Great War.

  • Sport Chat Live:Negro League baseball players
The Piper Davis League was founded in Birmingham, AL, in 1992 by Fred L. Plump, Jr. The league, formed to honor Negro League baseball players, was specifically named in honor of Lorenzo “Piper” Davis, a local resident of Birmingham. Prior to Piper’s passing, he shared his personal experiences with the Negro League as a Black Baron and as Black Baron Manager. The league was formed initially with three local parks—Brighton, Hueytown, and West End—with twelve teams the first year. The second year, the league expanded to twenty-four teams and the third year to thirty-six teams. At the end of the 2010 season, the league grew to sixty-four teams. In 2013, the league expanded to thirteen states, the District of Columbia, and the Bahamas. More recently, we have added the territory of Puerto Rico
Piper Davis League is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization that is molding young urban student athletes into future leaders in society. Our mission is to provide opportunities to develop character, sportsmanship, self-esteem, and discipline; foster leadership; provide educational support and life skill training; and furnish a blueprint for success through sports training for the youth by creating a safe and nurturing environment through the areas of sports and academia. The league is operated from Lowery Park, a city-owned property located in the southwest sector of Birmingham, AL..
