Home health providers play a crucial role in our patients' continuum of care. They ensure that patients receive the necessary medical attention, support, and rehabilitation in the comfort of their own homes. This not only promotes faster recovery but also enhances the overall quality of life for many of our patients.

Their work often goes unseen, but it is no less vital. Recently, I sat down with Home Health physical therapist Kim Chaney, who has been doing this work for more than 30 years, and whose patients regularly write in to share what an excellent job he is doing. His story was so inspiring that I have made it my latest Caring Moments podcast episode.

In this episode, Kim speaks with Rochelle Orens, RN III on the First Floor, who went above and beyond to honor the wishes of a cancer patient who had begun losing her long, beautiful hair during treament. A lifelong nurse, Rochelle always cares for patients like a member of her own family. 

“It’s an honor and a privilege to serve our patients the way that we do,” says Orens. 

Volunteers play an important role in the care KP provides its members. In recognition of National Volunteer Week, Kim speaks with special guests Dean and Cheri Johnson, who both volunteer at our Roseville Medical Center  

Joshua Stone, RN, is the manager of our Care Without Delay program in Roseville. When he learned of a wife and her husband who might not be returning home, Joshua stepped up to help rehome their beloved dogs.

Ariel Levine is a Housekeeping Aide in our Women & Children’s Center. Ariel recently made a special connection with a pediatric cancer patient that helped to bring little sunshine to a difficult time for her and her family.

Cindi Mitchell, Area Director of Account Management, Greater Sacramento Stockton, shares the story of her daughter giving birth in the Roseville Women and Children's Center. Cindi expresses her heartfelt gratitude for the entire care team that helped safely deliver her grandson.

In this episode, Kim speaks with Child Life Specialist Traci Aoki-Tan, who went above and beyond to help a hospitalized teenage patient  showcase her artwork in a special exhibit and making her feel like a star.
