  • My Prayer
SO much love among my Sisters and Brothers whom I have witnessed coming together in this vibration - it really warms my heart. Yes I know that we are all human and imperfect, and not all can be roses and rainbows ALL the time, but what we experience puts us in the frame of mind and heart to realize the possibilities, and therefore try to steer our daily interactions in a more positive and loving direction. More communication brings unification. That's all one can hope for.
    This is my prayer.

  • Sad For The World
Feeling the pain of the world so intensely this particular day, I drove out to the park to try and find some solace in nature and took my guitar with me, with the thought that maybe playing some music could help chase the blues away. As I sat there; noticing just how beautiful a day it was, hearing the birds singing and kids laughing happily on the swings, I began to realize and remember just how blessed I am to be able to enjoy such a day, when there are so many who could never even dream of doing so. I thought to myself; "how could I even begin to express this feeling?" I eventually picked up my guitar and figured I would just pluck one random note - and see what, if anything, that might provoke. As soon as I did, it's like a gate somewhere opened, and this song started to rush out, or in, I suppose. I immediately started writing, and before long, this song was born and I felt the weight lift from my heart, and I was left feeling so thankful - for everything.
What a miracle music is - I've seen and felt the magic happen so many times, yet it still amazes and fascinates me every time it does. I am so grateful to be able to channel the vibrations that come through in such a way that can turn darkness into Light.
So while I pray for humanity, I give thanks for all of the beauty that still exists in this world, and I will never take it for granted.
    One Love,
    Los

  • Stronger Together
I wrote this song on Nov 8th, 2016.
At that time things didn't turn out as many of us had hoped.
Now here we are, 4 years later, with renewed hope that we can recover and wake up from the nightmare of this last toxic administration, and try to live together with more civility and respect. I know it's a tall order, but at least we won't have the voice of hatred and intolerance being the loudest one.
I am so thankful to be able to channel this energy in a positive way and express it clearly and truthfully, and I'm looking forward to one day being able to play it with the band. In the meantime, I'm putting this vibration out into the Universe. Let's come together, start the healing, and get to work loving and supporting each other.

    Stronger Together - 11/8/2016 - 11/8/2020
    --------------
    No time for fear
    we reject the hate
its time to make it clear
    and to demonstrate
that we're stronger together, stronger together
we don't need another civil war
unification is what we're striving for
it's the only way we can make a stand
because divided we fall and that's not in the plan
    we're stronger together, stronger together
yes we're stronger together, stronger together
time to silence that hateful voice
show our determination by our choice
believe in the good and the common ground
step back from the brink and turn it around
we are stronger together, stronger together
yes we're stronger together, stronger together
so once again we find ourselves in a situation
where the forces of negativity are threatening to overcome the nation
but we got no time for worry and fear
because there's so much good to do while we're here
and just as sure as day follows night
when darkness closes in we got to shine the Light
because we're stronger together, stronger together
yes we're stronger together, stronger together
I think Love & Unity is the way to go
compassion for each other got to let it show
those that disagree seem to have no clue
you better check yourself the problem might be you
cuz we're stronger when we work together now
why we got to keep on fighting each other
    we aint gonna get nowhere
let's put our differences aside and treat each other better
    too long living in darkness
come on let's shine our light together
won't you help me sing it now
    this little light of mine
    I'm gonna let it shine...
    all the time

  • Children Unite
This is how I feel when we play music. Why can't it be like that always?
I was inspired to write this song when passing by a playground and hearing the happy sound of children playing, laughing, running, shouting - and I thought to myself, "that's like music to my ears!" And so it was...

  • My Family
Our dear cousin, Makeela came up with this idea for a family song back in 2010 and introduced it to us at that year's reunion. Since then, I have helped her to come up with an arrangement that I think fits the spirit of the song, and I'm proud to now reveal it in its working stages as it begins to emerge into the light of day. This is "My Family" - FOR US, BY US. Feel free to sing along if you feel it <3

About Carlos Jones

From the publisher's feed

Carlos Jones has been sharing his musical inspiration with Cleveland and the surrounding area for over 40 years, earning him the unofficial designation of “The Iron-man of Cleveland Reggae”. Born in Virginia, his earliest musical influence was the gospel music he heard in the church where his grandfather preached. In the mid-60s his family moved to Frankfurt, Germany, where he became fascinated by the Beatles and other popular music of the time. A few years later, after moving back to the states, his main musical interests were Soul, Jazz, Blues and Rock music, until he discovered Reggae in the mid 70s, which led him to seeing Bob Marley perform and then joining one of Cleveland's first local Reggae bands. He started out in 1978 as a side-man (percussion/vocals) with I-tal, one of Cleveland’s first homegrown Reggae groups, and then in 1984, split off from I-tal along with several other members to form the group, First Light.
