Hello everyone and welcome to Episode 21 of Carry On With Carrie -
Meet Lydia Duncan owner of Lydia Duncan Coaching Lydia is a certified life coach with the International Coaches Federation (ICF) and the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI). She also has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, with a minor in Psychology as well as a diploma in Communications.
Lydia's Bio:
I felt like life was happening TO me.
I had nothing I'd do just for me.
Life wasn't exciting.
I’d go to bed every night dreading the next day of the same monotony.
I was a grumpy, impatient mom.
I felt guilty for being unhappy.
I didn't know what I wanted and felt like a failure at what I was already doing.
I didn’t know how to be a functioning adult.
The idea of change was so overwhelming I tried to ignore the thought of it.
Then there were the never-ending questions I asked myself: Who am I as a person, not as a mom or a wife? What kinda person doesn't even know what they want? How can anything change when this is the way it has to be? How can things change when I'm not sure how to change them? What needs to change?
After that the guilt really came in and I was so hard on myself. I said things to myself I would never say to anyone else. And I said them over and over and over. I judged myself so harshly – and it was against impossible standards.
I felt like I had zero control over my life. I lived it trying to do everything for everyone else. I put everyone’s needs before my own. It took me a very long time to realize I was BURNT-OUT. I really wasn’t myself anymore because I was stuck in survival mode.
What’s great about realizing I was burnt-out was that I could then take action to take back control. And that’s exactly what I want to help everyone do.
