During the mid-1930s, the British and overseas newspapers were filled with extraordinary tales of Gef, a creature referred to as a "talking mongoose" or "man-weasel," which was said to have appeared in the home of the Irvings, a farming family residing in a remote area of the Isle of Man.

According to reports, the creature was capable of speaking in various languages, singing, stealing objects from nearby farms, and eavesdropping on local individuals.

Despite the presence of written reports, magazine articles, books, several photographs, fur samples, paw prints, extensive correspondence, and eyewitness accounts, there is still no real agreement on what precisely happened to the Irving family.

Was it a hoax?

An extreme case of shared psychosis?

A poltergeist? The result of an animal being possessed by an evil spirit? 

This case was so unique it attracted Nandor Fodor and Harry Price as they tried to figure out what was really going on.
