The 'Know Your Meme - external' site defines Slenderman, as "a mythical creature often depicted as a tall, thin figure wearing a black suit and a blank face". In the mythology "he can stretch or shorten his arms at will and has tentacle-like appendages protruding from his back".

In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we look at what happens when fiction becomes fact, and when the belief in something, that was never real in the first place, embeds itself into the collective psyche so deeply that it can have terrible consequences.

This is the story of when Slenderman led two young girls to try and commit a murder.

We are adding a message that was sent to us from a fan who wrote ' I would like to make a correction. There was a comparison of Slenderman and Mothman both being from books. This is an error. The original Mothman sightings was around 1966 whereas John Keels Mothman book was written in the 70s. This was a case of the sightings came before the book. Whether Mothman exists or not, the verdict is still out for me, but I wanted to give you a correction."

Hello True Hauntings Podcast Fans and first time listeners,

As from this episode we no longer have to capable production work that was part of the podcast for the last two years - our beautiful Bonnie, who took the raw material we recorded and made sense of it has needed to move on and become the legend that she deserves to be.

So Anne has taken it upon herself to grab the reigns of producing the podcast from now on.
