In the last 1300 years Spike Island has been the site of a 7th century Monastery, a 24 Acre Fortress and in Victorian times it was the largest convict jail in the world.
The island's history has included monks and monasteries, rioters and redcoats, captains and convicts, sinners and saints.
Spike island remains a sanctuary for the souls that have never left.
Spike Island sits just off the coast of Ireland and is a residual mix of occupation flavoured with misery, punishment and death.
In this episode of the True Hauntings Podcast we are taking the short boat ride to explore the ghost stories for ourselves and see who are the most notorious entities that continue to haunt it.
