Casting The Net

This isn't your daddy's giant monster movie, as Anne Hathaway plays a "down on her luck" party girl who realizes that she's controlling a giant monster that mimics her every move, halfway around the world from her in Colossal. As she tries to make sense of this development, she'll learn more about herself and the people around her than she bargained for.

This week, we're covering the trippy thriller Braid, because we wanted to experience dropping acid without actually having to do it! In the film, hustlers Tilda and Petula are on the run from the police, and decide to rob their wealth friend Daphne. Upon arriving at Daphne's manor, the two prepare themselves to play a twisted roleplaying game that they'll have to finish if they want to leave. Let's hope they survive the experience.

Since The country's already going to hell in a hand basket, we figured it'd be fun to check out Ike Barinholtz's directorial debut, The Oath. Along with Tiffany Haddish, the two play a married couple hosting Thanksgiving, and trying not to let differing political ideologies get in the way. But with the looming deadline for American citizens to sign a national pledge of loyalty to the country, things were bound to come to a head, especially when a pair of agents working in support of the initiative come knocking.

Big sis Kike joins the party, once again, on this week's episode, as we discuss the gritty crime drama Destroyer. When burnout detective Erin Bell (Nicole Kidman) starts investigating a John Doe murder, she finds herself faced with her trouble past, including an undercover operation gone wrong, and the point at which everything in her life fell apart. The trip down memory lane is a rough one, to say the least.

We figured you folks deserved a bonus episode after Clearly Canadian 2: Canuxploitation! Join us as we discuss our favorite Canadian television shows, and we apologize in advance for not mentioning Anne of Green Gables at all. Feel free to shame us for that if you like.

Tasked with delivering a secret package across the grid, Deke and his estranged brother will have to fight off bandits, scavengers, and gangsters to complete their mission.

Imagine finding out that you're a werewolf, and even more than that, there's a whole town of werewolves who know more about your family history than you. Canuxploitation continues as we get good and spoiler with Wolves. After young Cayden Richards (Lucas Till) discovers his parents brutally murdered, he's instantly pegged as the culprit, and realizes that he's something not quite human. Forced to go on the run, he finds his way to the town of Lupine Ridge, which has more than its fair share of secrets, and townsfolk who are just like him.

Canuxploitation gets a whole lot bloodier this week, as we discuss the thriller American Mary. Mary (Katherine Isabelle) is an ambitious med student who's struggling to make ends meet. But after a chance encounter puts her surgical skills on display, she quickly finds herself a sought-after commodity among members of the body modification community, and she'll do anything to protect her reputation. . .

It's like Romeo and Juliet . . . but with pizza! We're kicking off "Clearly Canadian II: Canuxploitation" with a little bit of romance, as Emma and Roberts and Hayden Christensen play old childhood friends stuck in the middle of a years-old feud between their pizza parlor owning fathers. As they try to make up for lost time, they'll realize there might be more to their friendship than either of them is willing to admit.
