  • Smiling Through Survival Breaking the Myth of Looking Okay

What If the Strongest Face in the Room Is Also the Most Fragile?

🎙️ Podcast Summary (from Martha Rice):
Right now, I’m in a season where I’m living this myth in real time. I’ve moved back to Chicago—and while it may look like I’m adjusting just fine, the truth behind my smile tells a deeper story. There’s joy in the journey, yes but also grief for what I’ve left behind. There’s peace in God’s plan but also anxiety about the unknown.

This episode is raw and reflective. I’m opening up about what it really means to look okay while not being okay and how healing begins when we allow ourselves to be seen.

Let’s drop the mask and be real because healing can only happen in truth.

  • Conquering Doubt & Embracing Purpose

This episode hits home in a powerful way. I had the honor of sitting down with Coach Jerry, who opened up about one of the darkest seasons of his life. He shared how he went from thriving in business to spiraling into depression after a painful divorce, nearly ending it all. But that breaking point became his breakthrough.

We talk deeply about the power of doubt and how it creeps in, especially when life falls apart, and how we can learn to manage it rather than try to eliminate it. Coach Jerry dropped truth after truth about mindset, fear, comparison (especially through social media), and how to develop the discipline to show up even when you don’t feel ready.

This episode is for anyone who’s ever doubted their purpose, battled fear, or felt like giving up. You’re not alone and this might just be the reminder your soul has been waiting for.

In this powerful episode, I sat down with Coach Craig, whose passion for helping men stems from his background in ministry and youth work. Craig opened up about how he became a certified coach to serve men navigating deep pain, church hurt, isolation, and the weight of silence.

We talked candidly about the dangers of men’s social isolation and how society often pressures men to appear strong, even while they silently battle depression, anxiety, and grief. Craig didn’t just name the problem, he offered hope. We explored faith-based strategies, the role of coaching and therapy, and the healing power of community.

  • Unscripted Healing: What Therapy Didn’t Tell Us

In this raw and revealing episode, I’m joined by Andrea Clark, a former licensed therapist who walked away from the traditional mental health system to speak the truth about healing truths she could not share inside the therapy room.

Andrea opens up about her personal story as a complex trauma survivor, her frustrations with the “chemical imbalance” narrative, and why she believes real healing happens outside the confines of clinical models. With over 13 years in therapy and a deep understanding of holistic mental health, she now empowers high-achieving, emotionally overloaded women to stop coping and start truly healing.

We dive into how Andrea helps women explore biological and lifestyle factors often overlooked by mainstream medicine like hormones, nutrition, sleep, and nervous system health. She also explains how coaching gave her the freedom to finally say what women really need to hear.

Andrea’s message is bold, embodied, and unapologetic.

  • Menopause, Muscle, and Mindset

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Karen, a former middle school teacher who pivoted her career into health coaching and fitness training. About seven years ago, her own perimenopause journey began and like so many women, she felt completely unprepared. That experience opened her eyes to the three distinct stages of menopause and the serious lack of support available for women navigating this life phase.

Karen shared the real struggles she faced with weight gain, joint pain, muscle loss, and mental shifts; despite maintaining her diet and fitness. She opened up about how her fitness routines had to evolve, shifting from intense workouts to gentler, more effective options like walking, strength training, and mobility work.

We also dug into her nutrition strategies, the value of tracking symptoms, and the reality of dealing with mood swings, anxiety, and the deep emotional toll menopause can bring. Karen encourages every woman to get educated, advocate for herself, and never settle for being dismissed by medical professionals.

She’s even created a “Navigating Menopause” health journal to empower women to track patterns, advocate with confidence, and feel seen through the process. And exciting news—Karen is hosting a women’s wellness event this June and another major one in January.

  • Infertility with Insight Restoring Hope, Health, and Harmony in Fertility Struggles

In this heartfelt episode, I sit down with Dr. Brenna Squires, a clinical psychologist and couples fertility coach, whose own personal journey through infertility led her to become a guiding light for others facing the same battle. She shared how her pain became her purpose, offering the very support and resources she once longed for.

We unpack the emotional toll of infertility, from grief and depression to anxiety and self-doubt and how it can quietly affect your mental health, your relationship, and your sense of identity. One of the most eye-opening moments came when we discussed how men and women experience infertility differently, and the importance of showing up for each other with empathy and teamwork.

Dr. Squires also challenged the narrative many carry: that our bodies are “failing” us. Instead, she reframes infertility as a signal—not a sentence—urging a holistic approach that prioritizes both physical healing and emotional support.

She walked us through her client process, emphasizing how every couple's story is unique and deserves personalized care, counseling, and connection. From her podcast to her supportive community, Dr. Squires is building bridges for those walking through what can feel like an isolating season.

If you're in the thick of this journey or love someone who is, this episode will remind you you're not alone and healing is possible.
