A recent conversation online called out the apparent lack of consideration for people who were financially "rekt" (damaged) by what was happening in cryptocurrency but also in the stock markets, with people jumping into extremely risky assets due to the desperation triggered by the pandemic.

We have, of course, been asking the same question for a while now.

The untimely passing of Ivana Trump, the ex-wife of former President Donald Trump, was treated as an opportunity for mainstream news outlets to spike ratings rather than a valid celebration of her and what she had done independently.

We also noticed that news media coverage is (finally) more inclusive of alternate data that questions the effectiveness of current President Joe Biden's policies.

What's missing is still the affirmation that American citizens are still hurting as a result of those policy changes - and the three branches of government are increasingly at odds.

Finally, the Commander-In-Chief (the President) has alienated American troops.

That's not good, or healthy.

At least in America, people are feeling the pain - and the war in Ukraine is making it worse.

But a lot of why it's worse, is the fault of our government, which openly welcomed excessive offshoring (at the cost of local jobs, and now, continuity and sustainability planning).

It's a fact that 2021 was harmful for many people.  Nearly everyone focused on keeping a roof over their families' heads, not paying for non-essentials.

One thing the government didn't do that might have helped, would have been to put a block against negative credit marks if the reason was COVID-related.  That would have helped many more people (and saved a lot of taxpayer money), plus it would have prevented spikes in bankruptcies.

It's way harder than it should be to rent or buy living space, but also cars.

With the recent Supreme Court shift plus these bizarre changes in how people are interacting with business, we think things are resetting.

It may be good for the long term - but for now it's simply annoying.

For the span of 2021, but certainly at points prior, we saw a failure of our government to uphold what the Constitution calls for, because of responses to social media pressure (largely).

Recent chatter is a desire to get back to forcing Congress to do their job - and you should want that.

The only reason it might bother you is that you know that Congress has failed to do their job.

We dropped our cable a long time ago, but we hear the chatter.

What is being presented as a "Commission" only exists to serve those on social media who are looking to validate their (faulty) opinion about things, in complete disregard to the other harm that Americans incurred during the span of 2020.

Etc etc etc.  All ignored because the current people behind the "Commission" said they didn't care about those criminals.

The actions of 2021 were basically the government making decisions about people's bodies - for them - and in disregard of civil liberties.

Social media voices supported these actions despite numerous warnings that it would set a bad precedent.

The revoke of Roe v. Wade is the same thing: it's now up to the states to tell people what they can and cannot do with their bodies.  Which is what those voices specifically asked for (but didn't understand).

We also see that the government is trying to placate by passing toothless laws like the recent funding bill for mental health instead of trying to address the real issue, which is making sure that guns cannot be brought into places where there's a risk of them being used improperly.

Someday, people will understand that what sounds good on paper may not necessarily be what people really want.

We firmly believe that the rush to get rid of copper POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) is a big mistake, and not well thought out - and is in essence a misuse of technology because it loses many of the reasons for POTS (not relying on power/still working during power outages, which means that the rush to "clean" energies will cause this transition to add more strain on the existing grid that we're not ready to handle).

However, the ramifications of the decision won't really be felt until long after we're gone.

Make sure you're ready for the transition if you still have your old phone service and are a US citizen, if you haven't gotten an outreach from your phone service provider.

Bottom line: if your phone line isn't coming out of a modem, you might be affected.

There was once a time when it was perfectly acceptable to run two jobs to help make it easier to make ends meet.

Now though, even being a gig worker and/or having your own business doesn't go nearly as far as it should.
