WWE 2K24 arrives on the console of your choice (PC/PS4,PS5/Xbox One/Xbox Series) on March 7. Casual Yelling go an early copy of the game for review. Instead of trying to review the entire game, which feels impossible with the amount of time I had to do it, I played just Showcase Mode. There are some ups and downs for the Showcase Mode, focusing on 40 Years of Wrestlemania, but it's mainly "ups." This week, I go in-depth into Showcase Mode, and discuss some of the mechanics and other things I got to dig into while playing the game.

During a gaming session of Pulp Cthulhu, my friend, Dan Jackson, found his character on the dining car of a train in the 1930s. He was asked what he would like for breakfast. Jackson yelled, "Breakfast Lasagna." This led to a conversation between the six of us playing: What is Breakfast Lasagna?

Also known as "Papa Suburbs," comedian Matt Drufke had a large hand in building the Chicago Suburbs Comedy scene in the early 2010s. It's a bit of a bouncy interview as we discuss Thompson's band and his transition from full-time guitarist to singing, along with his evolution as an artist. On the flip side, Thompson and I discuss the Tri-Cities punk scene between 1998-2004, a bustling scene of DIY bands in the western suburbs.

When I was in film school, a band called Cealed Kasket found me on MySpace. After going to a couple of shows, I became obsessed with the pageantry, costumes, over-the-top stage show, and fake blood. I became the band’s videographer, and eventually, I became a character who was part of the mythos and stage show. Reunited after almost 10 years, I speak with Josh Shenk, the singer of the band under the guise of “Mortal Death,” and we discuss what the band was, why they made people in the audience wear crowns, and what it’s like to be in character all the time—even if you’re being invited to judge a battle of the bands and show up with a giant broadsword and a bunch of knights. There’s also a lot of talk about making bizarre video fliers for shows and everyone coming together to make a music video that completely rips off another music video.
