Billy is the Club Manager and Franchise Owner of Anytime Fitness Bunbury and in this episode, we talk about the importance of reading people, connecting with them, and setting up environments that are inclusive and inviting. Billy talks about reading the room, while also reading the person to identify how you can meet the needs of the person you are meeting with or serving.

Billy also touches on how valuable transparency with people is and elaborates to include that it does not always mean being highly emotional or sharing deep personal stories, but rather just being honest in our communication about not being or feeling at our peak level. He shares with us that you can still communicate in a professional way to let people know that there are things going on while also reinforcing your commitment to reach the desired goal or outcome. He also discussed how valuable the diversity in his team is and how having an eclectic mix results in different people connecting with different people.

He commenced his journey into the Fitness industry in 2004 after completing his certificates in Fitness and Sport Development. He took on many roles within different types of facilities that varied from Sales, Customer Care, Gym Instructing, Personal Training and General Club Management all over Australia.

From a junior state representative athlete to a business owner and father of two, he has managed to spend time working throughout all different types of areas with widely ranging demographics all across Australia. Amy is an Published Author, Keynote Speaker and Emotional Intelligence Specialist and, in this episode, we talk about everything EI. Amy discusses the truth about communication not being about yourself but about the person you are communicating with and the importance of being able to read people to allow you to adjust your style in order to feel connected with the people you are wanting to influence.

Amy shares a heap of gold nuggets in this episode including (but definitely not limited to) the fact that there are no bad emotions, just intensity of emotion that works for or against us. When it comes to AI, Amy also explains how we can't use a text book approach because all people are different. We need to be adaptable to different people and different situation, recognising our triggers and understanding that the only thing that we have control over is how we respond to what is going on around us. In summary my key takeaway from this interview with Amy's point that it is about keeping it real when dealing with people.

Megan is the founder of Dying Right Australia which is a foundation that supports end of life transition. In this episode Megan talks about how assisting her friend through her end of life journey birthed the idea of Dying Right Australia.

Megan has a unique way about bringing joy into the conversation around dying and talks about giving space for grief, revelling in it, but also celebrating the life. She touched on how friendships can push us to do things we normally wouldn't do and how passionate she is about what she is bringing to the table in this space.

We also discussed how leaders don't have to be supervisors and managers, but they take up space in all kinds of unassuming roles. The fact that you are drawing people to you shows that you are taking on the role of leader, even when you don't realise it. And when we understand this we no longer underestimate how helpful our knowledge is to others.

Megan is a Nurse, mum and allround awesome human. She has been nursing for 15 years and has a passion for end of life care.

In addition to her nursing, Megan is driven to serve others in any way she can and is a member of Compassionate Communities, a volunteer for PANDA (Perinatal Anxiety and Depression Australia) and a Volunteer Coordinator for NODAC (no one dies alone companion program). She also volunteers for the telethon open air movies and has done so for the past 5 years.

In 2021 she lost a dear friend to a terminal illness which has motivated her to work on establishing a foundation that will provide education and support for those coming to the end of their life and their families and support network.
