In this episode, Kyle introduces Trevor to James Merendino's punk rock drama, SLC Punk! (1998)
Starring the largely underappreciated Matthew Lillard, the film explores the journey into adulthood of a young wannabe punk rocker in mid-80's Salt Lake City, Utah.
Michael A. Goorjian as "Heroin" Bob, who at no point in the film ever uses heroin!
Christopher McDonald stealing the show as the most sensible and jaded divorced dad in cinema!
Acid trips leading to young men thinking the floor is made of hot lava!
Hugo Stieglitz as an East German drug dealer in Utah!
Cute girls with unibrows that verbally flick you in the balls!
And don't forget, "Nazis are not Satanists.... They're more like, a... gathering of people."

In this episode, Trevor has Kyle watch Neil Marshall's lighthearted action-horror romp, Dog Soldiers (2002)!
Featuring a who's who of British/UK character actors, the film is modestly budgeted, but cleverly written entry in the long tradition of werewolf films.
Soldiers vs. Werewolves AKA Aliens meet Evil Dead!
Trevor and Kyle count the possible Jurassic Park references!
An entire 5 minute tangent about Tom Sizemore on the set of Saving Private Ryan!
And YET ANOTHER reference to Wayne's World slipped in there for good measure!

In this episode, Kyle introduces Trevor to Danny Boyle's contemporary zombie movie classic, 28 Days Later (2002)!
Starring Cillian Murphy, Naomie Harris and Brendan Gleeson, the film is an exceptional entry in a very crowded sub-genre of horror and is especially noteworthy for kicking off the (brief) trend of "fast zombies."
Cillian Murphy, shouting "HELLO!" and turning into Rambo in the last act!
Naomie Harris, mercy killing people in the least efficient manner possible!
Brendan Gleeson, as a gigantic red herring that's all about the booze!
Christopher Eccleston, as the proud leader of the UK's horniest and least capable military unit!

In this episode, Trevor and Kyle Catch Up On the world of Clive Barker via the horror-noir classic, Lord of Illusions (1995)!
Starring Scott Bakula, Famke Janssen, and everyone's favorite weasel, Kevin J. O'Connor, the film is an exceptional product of a rich era of high-concept, high-budget mainstream horror films.
Scott Bakula, jacked and shirtless throughout!
Famke Janssen, wearing some of the ugliest dresses in cinema history!
Kevin J. O'Connor, barfing fire snakes and floating for no reason!
Daniel von Bargen as a walking shit demon and president of Kruger Industrial Smoothing!

In this episode, Trevor introduces Kyle to the Hong Kong filmography of John Woo by having him watch the Chow Yun Fat bullet ballet classic, The Killer (1989)!
With a bodycount in the triple digits, and squibs and stunts galore, the film is a melodramatic spectacle for the ages that ranks among Trevor's favorite films of his youth.
Chow Yun Fat and Danny Lee as Mickey Mouse and Dumbo: Blood Brothers!
Trevor, grappling with whether or not Dick Tracy and The Untouchables are good films!
Kyle, asking the most serious of questions: Does Bruce Willis make good films?
Wayne's World references too numerous to count!

"An Evening with Troy Duffy" comes to a close as Kyle and Trevor review the 2nd (and potentially final) movie in bartender/bouncer/musician/screenwriter/director Troy Duffy's filmography, The Boondock Saints 2: All Saint's Day (2009)!
Starring most of the same folks from the first film, the film is largely devoid of redeeming value, and often feels painfully immature and dated.
Troy Duffy has seen The Godfather Part II and it's VERY IMPORTANT to him that you know that.
Rampant male nudity and childish gay panic slurs in the same film!?
Several minute long tangents about Jurassic Park and other (better) films!
Jerry Stiller attempting (in vain) to explain the plots of very complicated films!
The most cringe-inducing, unrepentantly pro-man non sequitur in cinema history!
Kyle and Trevor finding EVERY EXCUSE to NOT talk about the topic at hand!

*WARNING! Full spoilers for Triple Threat! WARNING!*
We interrupt our month of Irish films for a very special, impromptu, Theatrical Edition of the show!
In this very special episode of the podcast, Trevor takes his brother to go see the one-night-only, martial arts action extravaganza, Triple Threat (2019)!
Directed by Jesse V. Johnson, choreographed by Tim Man, and featuring a who's who of martial arts and action stars, the film has been at or near the top of Trevor's most anticipated films list since it's announcement a couple of years ago.
While the brothers are somewhat critical of the film, it needs to be said that the critiques come from a place of love and appreciation.
While not a perfect film by any means, the novelty of seeing Scott Adkins, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Tiger Chen, Michael Jai White, Jeeja Yanin, Michael Bisping, Ron Smoorenburg, and Dominique Vandenberg onscreen, beating the hell out of each other, is dream come true kind of stuff for an action fan like Trevor.

Kyle and Trevor’s Irish themed month of Catching Up On Cinema continues with Troy Duffy’s The Boondock Saints (1999)!
The first out of only 2 films in the filmography of bartender/bouncer/musician/screenwriter/director Troy Duffy, the film is regarded as somewhat of a cult hit, as well as mini-miracle given the character and (limited) capabilities of it's director.
Rampant glorification of violence and extremist ideologies!
Ron Jeremy's stunt double being shot through a 2-way mirror!
Willem Dafoe in drag!
PRIMO BOX!

Happy St. Patrick's Day from Catching Up On Cinema!
In keeping with the Irish-ish theme we've had for all the episodes posted this month, Kyle and Trevor invite you, the listener to join them in a special 3-part event we've taken to calling "An Evening with Troy Duffy".
For the uninitiated, Troy Duffy is of course the borderline talented Irish-American bartender/bouncer/screenwriter who is best known for writing and directing The Boondock Saints (1999).
Once thought (for about 5 minutes) to be the next big thing in Hollywood, Mr. Duffy would go on to become the subject of a cautionary tale of sorts, one that is detailed in the documentary we'll be covering in today's episode, Overnight (2003).
Look forward to follow-up episodes on both The Boondock Saints (1999) and The Boondock Saints 2: All Saint's Day (2009) AKA the entirety of Troy Duffy's theatrical filmography!
