Today we are discussing Abraham and God, the long awaited promise of a son for Abraham and Sarah, and the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah. These cities were especially wicked and violent, sinful, so we discuss comparisons to sins of this time and sins and evil times we see around us today. When sin is discussed in these times of Abraham and Lot, we can use these as examples for our own lives and we can flee and not look back, especially after good confessions in the Catholic Church.

God renews the covenant with Abraham and later, after Ishmael is born to Hagar, the servant girl of Sarah, God reassures Abraham and Sarah and seals the covenant for all time with circumcision of all male Israelites.

This discussion includes comparisons to today, especially the waiting on God for promise and blessings. A very interesting discussion that I hope you enjoy.

We see in these chapters the beginning of the story of Abraham, and the continuing promise of God to reconcile the world back to him after original sin and the devil were let loose into the world. We’re also at a time after the great flood, where wickedness grows again with the repopulating of earth by Noah’s descendants.

There are so many great comparisons between this time after the flood and our present day. In this podcast episode, I look at these comparisons.

We see God’s covenant with Noah and mankind, and the continuation of God’s plan to reconcile the world back to him. There are 2 lines of descendants - one going down an evil path without God and the other living more righteously. God blesses and continues his covenant and promise through Shem, the more righteous path. Sham’s descendants take us later to Abraham, Moses, David and Jesus Christ.

Original sin and the devil remain in the world after the flood, and there are fascinating comparisons between Genesis Chapters 9 and 10 and today.

Today, we reflect on Genesis chapters 4, 5 and 6 in the Catholic Bible. I also reflect on and compare the days of Noah before the great flood to our present day world after the great flood. There are many ways our present mirrors, and even surpasses, the wickedness, violence and sin since the days of Noah.

I also spend some time looking at how our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary’s intercessions and apparitions since the great flood tie back to Genesis and these chapters discussing the wickedness and evil of that time to God’s coming chastisement and the second coming of Jesus Christ.
